I'm a bit behind where I wanted to be with my WIP, but that's okay. I made the POV switch to introduce my next POV character. I wrote the opening paragraph then ground to a halt. So, I'm at work on my WIP, reworking the 50,000 words I wrote last year. I'm still working on the opening chapter. I had re-written a new opening, keeping the same setting but changing it up to have the POV character an active participant in the opening scene rather than just an observer ( Read more... )

Some more progress made. Had another one of those minor lightbulbs go off. I added a small thing to exemplify how some people express a certain faith and that lead to one of those moments where a sentence just wrote itself and solidified what will become a key part of one of my main POV characters ( Read more... )

It wasn't easy (yet it was fun), but I managed to hit my goal of 25,000 words on the WIP by the end of the month. Next I'll see if I can knock out another 25,000 words in August. Right now, I've reached the 1/4 mark of the first draft of my WIP. Whether I really am at that point remains to be seen. I'm not locked into the 100,000 word length ( Read more... )

I recently took stock of the first half of the year a couple of weeks ago (a little early I know) and set some goals for myself. One goal I set just a week ago before the most recent weekend was to hit the 25,000 word mark on my WIP by the end of this month.
