Updates...writing, reading and other...

So, I actually got to enjoy more than a week off from work. I read a bit, wrote a bit and visited one of my best friends who I hadn't seen in a few years. Overall, a productive time off.

I'm still reading Brandon Sanderson's Warbreaker. So far, its excellent.

Also, I've been thinking about the problem I have with the revised chapter 1 of my WIP and that it isn't finished being revised yet and already sits at 9000 words, well beyond the 2000 word chapter average of the rest of the chapters already written.

I read through the chapter and realized I could make a perfect break at 4000 words. I could end chapter one there and start a new chapter two and introduce the next POV character. The only issue I have now is, will she carry the narrative for the remaining 5000 plus words or will I find another break point.

I think it will be okay for her POV to carry the remainder of this scene. I'm beginning to have the feeling that my 2000 word first draft chapters will end up in the 4000 word range during the revision stage. I'm a very sparse first draft writer by nature, so I won't be at all surprised if that word count stat plays out.

Anyway, now that I've made the decision to switch POVs at this point, it will actually make for a much better introduction to this next main character. It allows me to introduce a particular ability she possesses quite naturally based upon what is happening.

Now, all I have to do is BIC and get it re-written.

wip, viewpoint, revisions
