Since I last posted I've managed to do something funky with my sleep and effectively give myself jetlag. My body clock is always set a few hours west of where it really should be so on Monday evening (well... Tuesday morning) I fell asleep around 3 a.m. However, I didn't wake up again until 3.30 p.m. which is pretty good going even for me (my record is 4.30 on a Sunday which meant I slept through the supermarket opening hours... and I really needed food). This meant that once Tuesday night and "bedtime" rolled around I was anything but tired. I wasted a while messing about online and before I knew it 5.30 arrived. I'd arranged a meeting with my tutor for Wednesday morning and because she's pulling nights all week it was at 8.30 and so I had to be up a little after 7 a.m. so this meant I didn't actually go to sleep on Tuesday night at all. The meeting was interesting because neither of us had had a night's sleep but we managed to get something out of it. The afternoon consisted of another meeting with another tutor and Starbucks with a friend and boy did I need it. I was determined to stay up until a sensible bedtime so I could reset my clock. I managed until 8.45 at which point I crashed in front of a movie and didn't wake up for twelve hours. And now I'm back to being awake until the early hours and sleeping until noon. Oh well- I tried.
Tomorrow I'm playing tour guide which should be fun. My aunty and uncle are visiting because they've never seen the university before so I've offered to show them around a few colleges (I can get them into places for free by flashing my student card around). It should be a really pleasant day if the weather holds. Sunday is my friend Faye's birthday so I'm going to London to see her and hit Chinatown for the new year festivities. It looks wonderful. I can't wait.
And I'm getting even more excited about my NYC trip. The travel guide I ordered arrived in the mail this morning along with a coaster with the stars and stripes on it that my mum found somewhere ("to get you in the mood"). I also bought a charger for my iPod so it's all going well.
