Yesterday I had the honour of discovering a place called Wood's Edge Herb Farm just outside of Port Huron, Michigan. I was invited to play as part of a benefit for the Green Gathering. There were performances by an amazing illusionist called Brian Keefe, and a brilliant band called The Illalogical Spoon.

I loved exploring the property - an organic herb farm nestled in among trees, with trails leading to campsites and a fantastic little outdoor stage area. I learned from the owner, Dave Rutkofske, that they host many musical events there including a folk festival. I'm really glad to connect to a whole new world of music, good people, and inspiration on the other side of the St. Clair River!

When I was driving back to Canada on the Bluewater Bridge, I looked out at the cities' lights and the river in between, and thought how silly it is that we consider water as a boundary, a border separating us. Getting through the border is often stressful as well - why do we create this separation? Perhaps to provide contrast and inspiration for unity...

My new album, Flourish, is now in the hands of the wonderful souls who will mix it. Next week we'll record the final addition - hand drums by a talented percussionist called Dave Hoyt-Walterhouse, then the sounds shall be arranged perfectly for your listening pleasure. The album will be available early June, hopefully in time for Artwalk but if not, I will have an album release party at the perfect time.

This afternoon I'm going to hear the sweet Soprano sounds of my beautiful friend Erica, then spend some quality time with my soul sisters.

It feels really good to be alive! :)
