I like it when we talk about the deep stuff
This just came up in a discussion with Liana and I am curious as to the opinions of others,
I won't bore you with how things all started out, but basically it all boiled down to this question:
Which is more important to you, the meaning you take from a song, or the meaning you think the Band intended?
It works just as well with paintings/films/martial arts, but putting those in spoils the flow of the question.
For me, the meaning I take is more important, even if it is quite clear to me that the message I am getting is completely against the message they seem to be trying to sell, the thing that matters to me is how it impacts me.
Now, it's one of those questions that start to feed back on itself, so there can't really be an absolute answer, but as I said, I am keen to hear other opinions.
