Another week down and I'm still alive. I had the CT scan and the surgery and did not die. I had the surgery yesterday and it went well. They even gave me a bunch of vicodin. I had been conserving my vicodin from my wisdom teeth surgery, so I actually finished that off before I cracked into the new stuff. My neck hurts a bit, and I should have a pretty cool scar, but at least I'm all doped up.
This weeked marked the release of the new Dream Theater album, Train of Thought. Dream Theater has been one of my favorite bands for the past 5 or 6 years now, but I haven't really been listening to them much for a couple years. It's just not what I needed musically or emotionally. I wasn't too excited for Train of Thought, but of course I'm going to support the band. I always will. The first couple songs I felt kind of "blah" towards, but as the CD went on, I was really enjoying it. And after repeated listenings, I am enjoying the entire disc way more than I thought I would. Yeah, it doesn't have a lot of intricacies of their older works, but this is still a great album. And the way they work the Battle Hymn of the Republic in at the end of In The Name of God really sends chills down my spine. It's a heavy album throughout. It has even made me want to pull out the old albums and give them a listen.
I need money. I lost my main job last spring and really don't have time to work that much this year, but there's still a lot of stuff I want to buy. This tuesday Let it Be... Naked comes out, which I'd like to buy, and also The Two Towers gift box. I think I'll just charge them and worry about debt some other time. If my schedule works next semester, I'll be playing drums for a lot more dance classes and making more money. Yay.
