Annunciation

Today is the feast of the Annunciation.

Over two thousand years ago, I performed one of my most famous and revered duties. I am still grateful for having being given that task.

[frowny-face] Two thousand years?  Has it truly been so long since the Holy Spirit moved through the world?  Will we ever again be thusly revered?

Yes. Time truly flies. But as for your last question... I do not know.

Time is such an odd thing.  It flies, but it crawls.  A day may drag on, or it may be gone in the blink of an eye.  Shall Heaven become naught by ancient mythology in the minds of the people?

I should not let such melancholies plague me.  Perhaps a better question to ask is what I should be making for such a wonderful feast?  I hear you are not exactly to be trusted in the kitchen, and far be it from me to let you starve.

No. When a child looks at a sunset or something else as beautiful, and wonders about who Created it, there we will be. There will always be those who look up at the sky and see God and Heaven. They're just... rarer now.

[laughs softly at that] That's... putting it mildly. Things blow up when I attempt to cook. Thank you, though. Perhaps I could pass you the ingredients?

If you mean making me wonder how old he is, then yes, he does this sort of thing regularly.

Well, I think it would be fine if Michael and I don't touch anything, but knowing Michael we should probably lock him out. I'll just pass you ingredients; keep me away from the actual preparation and nothing will explode. I hope. [to show solidarity, he puts on a paper hat himself; now they all look ridiculous together]

[slightly alarmed] Lock him out?  Should I ask why? [smiles at seeing Gabriel in the hat, though he really wishes he could take his OFF]

... ... I'm standing right here... ... [pouts, but it's mostly for show, he's just thrilled that Uriel didn't set the hat on fire and curse him or somesuch. He wasn't sure what he was expecting.]

Well, after spending time with Michael, one tends to be paranoid, I think. Not that my own cooking is any better. [can't help a smile at that last bit] I'm touched.

Uh! Hey! I may or may not have made macaroni and cheese overflow, but YOU set WATER on FIRE!

The water needed to be hot, I made it hot. [smiles at Gabriel] Nothing quite like family, right?

[smiles back] No, indeed. Even if family dinners are deadly affairs. And I maintain that I have no idea how the magnesium got into the pot.
