Today is the feast of the Annunciation.

Over two thousand years ago, I performed one of my most famous and revered duties. I am still grateful for having being given that task.

And over two thousand years ago, a young woman put her faith in the Lord despite the obstacles she knew she would face.

Well, after spending time with Michael, one tends to be paranoid, I think. Not that my own cooking is any better. [can't help a smile at that last bit] I'm touched.

Uh! Hey! I may or may not have made macaroni and cheese overflow, but YOU set WATER on FIRE!

The water needed to be hot, I made it hot. [smiles at Gabriel] Nothing quite like family, right?

[smiles back] No, indeed. Even if family dinners are deadly affairs. And I maintain that I have no idea how the magnesium got into the pot.

I don't even think there was magnesium in the pot. I think you're just so bad at cooking that water rebelled against you. [pushes Gabriel's shoulder gently, obviously joking]

Hmm, speaking of family, should we invite anyone else? It probably should be up to you, Lulu, considering you're the one who hasn't seen most of us in awhile.

Cooking is a learned skill. Explosive or not, enough practice would have you boiling water without igniting metals.

It's been quite awhile, yes, but the real question is how many of them would be willing to sit in a room with me without putting a sharp, pointy object through me. I would like to keep myself intact if at all possible.

[pushes Michael back gently] [glances at Lucifer, unsure if he's teasing or being serious]

You do have a point. And there'd be a mess to clean up, too. [grin]

Hey now, Lu, no one can put a sharp, pointy object through you but me. [fondly sticks his tongue out] [yep, joking about killing him, although it could also be taken sexually O_O]

[Lucifer was almost always teasing, but that made it all the more difficult to tell when he was being serious] A horrible mess and considering I would likely be incapacitated or dead, there would be no help cleaning.

You can put sharp, pointy objects through me any day, Michael. [Please say that was just for the sake of making a dirty joke]

Blood is dreadfully hard to get out of carpets, from what I hear.

[looks confused] You are talking about actual weapons, right?

Blood is hard to get out of anything. I highly recommend against spilling any of mine anywhere you want presentable later.

[laughs] What else would I be talking about? Uriel, are you still alive in the kitchen? Do you need a hand?

I have no intention of doing so.

[grins back] Sometimes I'm unsure, that's all. I'd love to help Uriel, but I think he'd prefer his kitchen in one piece.

[his reply is somewhat muffled by the sounds of the kitchen: running water, pots and pans being shuffled about, the staccato tapping of a knife against a cutting board - he doesn't bother to stop working, pitching his voice over the noise] I am quite capable of taking care of myself in the kitchen, Lucifer.  No need to worry yourselves about me.  I will let Gabriel know when I need his help. [as far as "no, really, go away"s go, that one was rather polite]

[pouts] I feel like I should be helping out somehow, though. So, Gabe, this is your celebration, you do the dictating! How do I get to help? And saying 'demon removal' would be tacky. [winks]

I wasn't going to. [smiles at Michael and Lucifer] And really, I was just thinking of a simple meal. Perhaps, as Uriel said, we could set the table.

Yeah... about that... what exactly does "set the table" mean? [has people to do that for him in Heaven, and hasn't been on Earth enough to understand it]
