Now that this round of visits is done, I'm getting back into creative work. While I was visiting my parents I did a little drawing in my sketchbook and had some great ideas for my fantasy story (which I scribbled down in full). Oh and I got another page done on my story the other night. But anyway, these days I'm itching to do more. I'm now hankering to do big paintings, but at the same time I'm unwilling to embark upon one. I want to FINISH something first.
To that end, I'm going to stick with the sketchbook drawings and in the meantime try to get this Sir Gawain scholarly paper finished once and for all. It's been sitting around for a year and it needs to be eliminated from my mental to-do list. I still have those two packages to send off, too. Why do I still procrastinate on things even when I know it makes me unhappy? I'm surprised I haven't given myself an ulcer.
Also, I've finally gotten bored of sitting around watching Lost, so today I bought a soccer ball and a new set of exercise clothes (mostly on sale). Lee has promised to play with me but even if he doesn't I'm going to try to make myself go alone (there's a field with a soccer goal across the street). It should be a good way to burn calories and engage my mind in a different way than I'm used to. I haven't played soccer since I was in ninth grade, unless you count that one afternoon with my campers a few summers ago.
Oh, that reminds me: I'm teaching at art camp again this year. I sent in my class descriptions last week. I'm really looking forward to it, but at the same time engaging in my usual behavior of trying to anticipate all the problems and solve them before they arise. There are certain campers who were a problem last year and I really want to get the better of them this year. But apart from that, I'm having fun looking through my art books and coming up with some nonspecific lesson plans for them. Looking through the art books is an inspiration for me, too.
