Office Politics around every corner

Not much to talk about today. Haven't updated in a few cause we've been hitting the restaurants for lunch. Wednesday was a farewell for Elizabeth (Thai - I didn't go), Thursday was Kaycey's birthday (Greek) and today we were celebrating Felicia's iminent gastric bypass surgery (Mexican). I like going out and socializing with the ladies, but I don't like spending the money. It's back to sandwichs for me next week.

The kitties have been approved by the landlord ($150 deposit each) but the vet hasn't certified them for release yet. Apparently it's their standard policy to spay/neuter adoptee's before sending them home. They can do this very young now, but the animal has to be at least 2lbs. Alistair is almost there, but Selene still has a ways to go. The lovely desk lady says probably about two more weeks unless I can convince the vet in charge of adoptions on Monday to release them and I'll bring them back. I'm impatient, so I'm certainly going to try, but Rita's gone all next week, so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to wait till we're both home.

Viggo got to meet the three finalists on Wednesday night. He could hardly stand the excitement - the kittens didn't seem quite as taken with him. Both the boys did ok, but Selene hissed at him a few times. We were already set on Alistair, but we had to decide what kind of a cat we wanted to make a decision between Selene & Pharoah. Pharoah and Viggo probably could have been best buddies given some time, but Pharoah is a very reserved cat when it comes to people. Since Alistair is my favorite, I let Rita follow her preference for Selene, who is receptive to cuddling and affection in a way that Pharoah probably won't ever be. Hopefully she and Viggo will find a mutual respect and distance without too much trouble. For at least the first week or two we're going to keep the kittens and Viggo separated when we're not at home - everybody needs some time to settle in to the new situation.

I'm going on a hunt for a few birthday trinkets tomorrow morning for Lauren and Jessie. I have been shopping for gifts in years, cause I haven't had any money to spare, but I do right now, so these lucky Leo's get the benefit of my financial well-being.

bday, kitties
