::heavy sigh::
I'm sitting here in my quiet house. Kids are at school, husband headed to Indy for a 3-day meeting. It's just me and the puppy. In theory, I've been looking forward to this moment for months. In reality, I'm actually a little bit sad. Need to keep busy today so I don't get too lonely. I do have our puppy to keep me company, but since she is not house-broken yet, our time together is limited unless I want to hang out in the laundry room or out on the deck all day.
I've been compiling a list in my head of things I want to start doing now that I have my days to myself again. I don't do New Years resolutions, but maybe I'll consider a few Back to School resolutions instead.
1. Go over our finances and (finally) put together a budget that we will stick to.
2. Get some kind of exercise every day, whether it's treadmill, elliptical, a bike ride, a walk...whatever. Just need to get moving!
3. Be a better correspondent for my family and friends who are not on FB. I have become so lazy and have neglected people. I need to get my act together before I lose touch with people altogether.
4. Start needlepointing again - it used to be a favorite activity. I want to do it again, I have several projects that I started years ago (before the girls were born) that were left half done.
5. Volunteer at school - I did precisely NOTHING at school last year. I don't want to commit to something that will eat up a ton of my time, but once or twice a week would be good.
6. Spend less time on the iPad. A lot less.
7. Organize and put into albums about 3 years of photos. This job has been intimidating me for months now, but it will only get bigger and more daunting until I sit down and get started.
8. Plan a few family events for Fall weekends - mini trips to nearby cities, football games, etc. If I don't do this, we tend to just hang around the house doing very little every weekend. Not terrible once in a while, but more fun to actually DO something together.
OK, I think that's a good start!
Only time will tell if I actually achieve any of these things, but I'm feeling optimistic!
Have a great day!
