Fall is almost here, thank God!

Life has become quite busy since school started - for the first time, I have the girls signed up for more than one after school activity this semester. They have barely begun and I'm already regretting it. Luckily, BT's soccer only goes thru Oct. 19. After that swimming will take over, but that is something both girls really enjoy. They are also signed up for American Heritage Girls (like Girl Scouts), BT is doing Young Rembrandts (after school art program) and she is also signed up for Beginning Band (clarinet). BT2 is just doing Amer. Heritage Girls for the time being. After she gets her casts off, she'll start doing more. Between the activities and the increased homework this year, I'm kind of exhausted already, just 3 weeks in!

I do have a new book club getting started so that is something to look forward to. Also, I have been invited by a friend (another school mom) to join her and a few others for a Moms Night Out later this month. Haven't had a night out with the (grown up) girls in ages, so that will be fun!

The big news event that occurred in our family recently is that BT2 (age 8) fell out of a tree and broke both wrists about 2 weeks ago! She has one pink cast and one bright orange. She is handling it like a trooper, but I know she is frustrated by not being able to participate in some fun activities at school. But I did warn her, all summer long, that climbing trees was fun but could result in a broken arm. My dad and my childhood friend Andrew both broke an arm falling from trees. But she is fearless and blithely disregarded my warnings. On one hand, I'm glad she has such a daring and adventurous streak. But on the other hand, I am worried about future activities she might take up - sky diving, scaling mountains, scuba diving, etc. ;) At least I don't worry about BT that way - she's a chicken like her mom! LOL

Just ordered their Halloween costumes - BT will be a ninja and BT2 will be a witch. BT has invited a couple friends from school to come trick or treating with her. Yes, it's a bit early to be making Halloween plans, but I'm glad she has some nice friends.

Am enjoying the cooler nights, but we still have a few hot days coming up. Looking forward to the first frost to kill all the GD ragweed, which has been killing me lately. Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons, especially for the beautiful colors, and also for the pumpkin muffins and other autumnal goodies from Panera, Starbucks, etc. OK, now I'm hungry!

Been having some fun over on Twitter, but it still seems pretty pointless to me. I mean, you make a post (I refuse to call them "tweets" it just sounds too stupid) and it's just "out there" and most likely no one ever replies. But I am enjoying reading posts by others - it has become one of my main news sources since I've mostly stopped looking at cable news unless something big is happening. Feel free to follow me over there - I'm mom2cnb - but be warned, I mostly retweet political stuff and if you know me, you know I'm a libertarian leaning conservative (someone described it as "Republicans, mind your own business. Democrats, pay for your own shit" and that sounds about right to me, LOL). If you don't want to see that stuff, just move along. :)

Anyway, this has been a fairly long winded (and boring) post. But I wanted to come in and say hello and let you know I'm still here. Have a great day!
