Sometimes I hate being a grown-up

My minivan is 10 years old and has 144,000 miles on it. Rusty wheel wells, dented hatchback, disgusting interior (due to my having children), etc. But we paid cash for it back in 2004 and it's so nice not having a car payment. Nevertheless, the minivan is definitely on its last legs, so to speak. It hangs in there OK, but we know we are on borrowed time and a big expense is coming up when we need to buy another vehicle. So that DREAD has been hanging over our heads for a while now.

Yesterday our central air died...again. It died 2 weeks ago and the guy said it was low on refrigerant, topped it off and we paid a couple hundred bucks for it. Now it's dead again and apparently the issue is much bigger than just a refrigerant leak. Dammit. We have a pretty big house, I don't even like thinking about how much it would cost to replace the entire HVAC system. The idea of shelling out thousands for an HVAC in addition to (soon) shelling out thousands for a new car really makes me want to cry.

Meanwhile, the girls are mostly concerned about wanting to go to Dunkin Donuts this afternoon and will I let them play in the sprinklers out back.

I want to be a kid again. Being a grown-up stinks.
