So, we have isilondo, olaanar and lord_bobbit visiting for the Thanksgiving weekend.  We all ate really good food yesterday, then called the other family (parents, sibs, etc) that weren't here for good conversation.  After enough rest and a good walk, there was room for dessert - apple and pumpkin pie, and persimmon pudding - with whipped cream, of course.

Thunderstorms again this weekend.  We're about to get hit with rain, so the west window is closed.  Oooo - big flash and boom!  Rain will be soon and since it's been intensifying as it moves east we'll probably get some hail in the next half hour also ( Read more... )

Well, it has started. Our first snowstorm of the year. We've had a couple of light amounts, but they were only 1-2 cm. This one is supposed to be 10-20 cm. Since the storm made landfall over Baja California, we have had lots of warning. All the municipal plow trucks are loaded full of salt, and drivers are standing by. We had a bit of excitement today at work. The power went out at 11:45, blinked twice trying to come back on, then stayed dead. For the whole campus where I work, plus traffic lights nearby and a couple of streets over. The power company thought everybody would have power back by 1:30, and everybody except my building did. This has been a good week. We finally got our first prototype circuit boards in at work. There is still a lot of software to create to go on the boards, but we can see real results from writing new software now!
