So Moving On has hit a wall....The next chap is written but I'm not pleased with it and refuse to post blatant crap on LJ. So here's a oneshot I did awhile back based on a challenge in the Copper & Steel yahoo group
Here's the challenge: Olivia and Casey have lived in the same apartment building throughout the entire series but for some inexplicable reason(like the possibility of a sublet or inherited apartment or wrong name on the mailbox) they don't realize it.
So read, enjoy and I hope this tides you over until I post Moving On's next chap.

The Neighbor Upstairs
PG-13
Olivia Benson walked into her apartment, threw her keys onto the counter as she moved over to the sofa where she collapsed and closed her eyes. Her frustration with the justice system sometimes made her feel on the verge of just quitting, but she could never leave SVU, it was the whole reason she joined the force. She felt bad for yelling at Casey the way she had; the sexy redheaded ADA didn’t deserve that. It wasn’t Casey’s fault that the detectives had broken the law (again) and that she couldn’t get them a warrant for the suspect’s apartment.
Casey sighed as she walked to her mailbox to retrieve her mail. Sometimes she wanted to kill the detectives for their complete neglect of the laws they knew. If they had come to me sooner maybe I could’ve helped them, but they had to be the vigilantes. Especially Liv, Casey had had a crush on the tall dark and handsome detective since day one, but sometimes Casey wanted to slap her for her flagrant ignorance of the rules and how she treated Casey, like she was the one who screwed up! If she wasn’t so goddamn sexy…Casey sorted through her mail as she walked to the elevator, Let’s see, bill…bill…junk…catalogue…junk…more junk…catalogue…wait, what’s this? Casey stared in wonder as she saw the addressee’s name: Olivia Benson. Casey went back to the mailboxes to look for Liv’s name, how could I miss Liv? I mean, if she’s really living here…Casey looked at the label again; it was her address, and Liv’s name was right there at the top…
The mailboxes didn’t have Olivia’s name on any of them, so she asked Henry, the doorman, which apartment Olivia lived in.
“I can take it up to her Ms. Novak,” Henry politely informed Casey.
“Oh no Henry, I can do it; I work with her.” Henry was sweet, but Casey needed a good excuse to see Liv, and this was perfect.
“All right, she’s apartment 5E.”
Two floors above me…Casey smiled at the thought, “Thanks Henry, have a good evening.”
“You too, Ms. Novak,” Henry held the door open for her and Casey re-entered the building.
As Casey took the elevator to the 5th floor she tried to figure out just how neither of them, in all these years of working together and apparently living in the same building, had never run into each other. Well, my apartment is in my Grandmother’s name since I inherited it from her, and I never bothered to have the name changed…but how did Liv get her apartment and not change the name on the mailbox? The elevator door opened as Casey collected her thoughts and headed down the hall to 5E.
Liv groaned when she heard a knock on the door. I really don’t need to deal with anyone right now…She looked in the peephole only to find her sexy ADA standing behind the door. Opening the door rather quickly, “Casey? What are you doing here?”
Casey smiled that adorable smile Liv had fallen in love with, “I live here, rather, I live in 3E and your mail was put in my box.” God, Liv looks so sexy when she’s puzzled…
“Casey, about earlier…I’m sorry for the way I treated you. You’re just trying to help us and we can’t seem to act like the detectives we are.” Casey hadn’t expected an apology from Liv and stood there in the doorway, slightly shocked. “Casey?”
Casey snapped out of her reverie, “What?”
“I asked you if you’d like to come in.”
“Oh, um yes, yes I would thank you.” Olivia smiled at Casey’s red-tinged cheeks, she’s even sexier when she’s flushed…come on, Liv make a move…it’s just Casey; she won’t shoot you down like Alex did.
Once inside Liv’s apartment Casey gave Liv her mail, Liv tore it open and sighed, “It’s just a bill; couldn’t you have brought me good news Casey?”
“I think I did, Olivia.” With that Casey kissed Liv and backed Olivia up against the door as she deepened the kiss. When Casey pulled away, “God, I’ve been wanting to do that forever.”
Liv found her voice to respond, “So have I, I don’t want to scare you away, Case, but I fell in love with you the moment I met you.”
Casey smiled as Liv leaned in for another kiss, and Casey smirked as she felt Liv push her towards the bedroom. “I think this is going to be a very good end to a very bad day, detective.”
Liv lifted Casey up to carry her into the bedroom, “Oh, I definitely agree counselor; I definitely agree.”
