Winter break

Jan 25, 2008 20:41

My two weeks off from work start tomorrow and for the last few days my students have been asking me what my plans were. They were all very sorry for me when I told them I didn't plan to travel anywhere, but I don't mind. I'm not a big fan of winter, so travelling in winter holds no appeal whatsoever for me. Unless I were to travel to some warm place, and I can't afford it right now.

Still, all this doesn't mean I don't have a lot of plans for the next two weeks. The most important involve doctors, which isn't very pleasant, but necessary.

On February 5 I have an appointment with a laryngologist. She's really good, apparently, and I hope I'll be able to start a proper treatment of my sinuses.

I'm also planning to see an eye doctor. I don't have an appointment yet, I'm waiting for my colleague to send me the info of some good doctor her aunt goes to. Even though I have reading glasses, my sight has gone worse in the last few months. On Wednesday I was reading a document to some parents at a parent-teacher meeting, but I had to stop in the middle and ask my colleague to continue, because the text was blurring more and more before my eyes, until I couldn't see anything. It was 6pm and I had been working since 7.30 am by then, so my eyes were really tired. That scared me, so I'm going to take the first opportunity to have my eyes examined, and it's very likely I'm going to need stronger glasses.

On a more pleasant note, I'm going to go to a beautician, too. I want to have my ears pierced at last, and maybe I'll finally get round to it now.

Besides that, I'm going to meet a couple of friends I haven't seen in a while, as well as meet my friends from work. My birthday is on Feb 6, so I want to have a small party for them. The family celebration is going to be on the weekend after that. My parents return on the 7th, so it's going to be a birthday party/my sister's name's day party/my parents' welcome home party, and this one is going to be big, I expect.

I'm definitely going shopping, or at least I'm going to see what's in shops, as I have so little time for that. Also, I'll be continuing reading The Order of the Phoenix. My parents are bringing me some books, and I just know I'll want to read them right away, so I should finish my current HP ASAP.

And last but not least, I'm changing my LJ layout. Over the past months I've collected lots of lovely headers which are just begging to be used, and it's time for a change again.

In other news, I have a cold again, not even two weeks after my last infection finished. Yeah, that's completely normal *rolls eyes*. My appointment with the laryngologist can't come too soon.

health, holidays, winter
