With spring coming and the weather looking a little more like something Zachry can understand and relate to, the teen has been going outside every day. It helps him to wander in the green area, helps him to take in the scent of grass and the sound of wind in the trees.
He still steers clear from the stables - the sound of horses reminds him too much of the Kona, and of everything they did, and of everything he didn't do, and of what he did, too.
Still, he feels better, and on this day he's found the paddock where the goats are kept.
This confuses him, and he's standing in front of it, very perplexed.
Are these goats not being herded?
