Picspam: Winter Wonderland Edition
Instead of doing anything so productive as actual work, I will post some pictures that I took the other day. My mom asked for pictures of my new Christmas tree, so it's totally justified, right?
A few weekends ago I mentioned having novellover and ophelias_heart over for a Glee-a-thon and the infamous Cookie Cake Pie. rabidfan requested pictures, so I obliged.
Here it is fresh out of the fridge:
And a close-up once we massacred cut it:
Red velvet cake over sugar cookie dough, baked into a Julia Child recipe pie crust and iced with cream cheese frosting. I wasn't a fan, but the girls seemed to enjoy it okay.

And the view from my office window, so you can see my frozen roof and the fact that we didn't even have much snow:
It's all gone now. Which is fine with me, frankly, because they don't know how to treat the sidewalks here.

I've been putting off taking pictures in the hope of a) finding the perfect silver topper, and b) making a tree skirt with some leftover fabric I have around here somewhere, but neither of those things have happened, and it's nearly Christmas week, so let's just stop pretending they're going to.
The little present ornaments open and everything! FANCY.
It's so tacky! I LOVE IT.

If you were asked to pick one scene, one line, one detail, one moment of some kind out of all the stories I've written and say, "This. This, for whatever reason, I remember. This is something that struck home with me, that I wanted to keep," what would it be?
I have almost 3000 words of DIWWCF fic! I don't know if I'll finish today, but hey, progress.
I just gave in and went to Starbucks even though I can't afford fancy coffee right now and ordered a peppermint latte. The barista who made it also works at the library, and she's so sweet but super-sensitive, so I didn't tell her that I did not order the peppermint mocha she actually made me. It's so not in my calorie budget. But it's delicious, and I was craving chocolate, so I'm drinking it anyway. And I wonder why I keep gaining weight. (No, I don't wonder at all.)
ETA-ETA: I take it back. You guys are shiny and awesome and I mostly love you and you can talk about whatever the hell you want. ♥
