Picspam: Winter Wonderland Edition

Dec 17, 2010 14:20

Instead of doing anything so productive as actual work, I will post some pictures that I took the other day. My mom asked for pictures of my new Christmas tree, so it's totally justified, right?

Mmm...[cookie] cake [pie]. )

Oh, cute tree. We don't have one anymore because of the cats. Sometimes I miss it.

I drove up last night to see one of our trees encased in ice, lit up by the dusk-to-dawn light. I sat there a few minutes and just looked at it because it was gorgeous. It wasn't so gorgeous trying to slide my way to the front door with my laptop and all my other belongings.

Um, probably Platonic where Brett had his head resting on Avery's arm then raises it to snap at their friends so Avery moves his arm then Brett frowns when he puts his head down and Avery's hand is gone.

Aw, Brett. He wants SO MUCH and he won't let himself ask for any of it. Silly boy; if only he knew Avery would give him anything.

I'm glad you made it inside safely! We have had a broken pelvis and a broken ankle so far just on the library staff, so it's definitely been dangerous out there.

Ouch. My brother fell down the steps at his place (I keep calling it his girlfriend's, but he's been there for two years so I'd better get over myself!) and jacked his shoulder blade. He said it's better today.

Ice is cool-looking for sure. Just as long as I'm not forced to drive in it; thanks, job!

Mmm...salted caramel hot chocolate. See, I never order that either, because again, calorie budget. If I'd wanted to splurge I probably would have. Not that I don't enjoy a good peppermint mocha, because I do. Still, though.

Where oh where did you get the ornaments for your tree? I have a foot tall shiny bright green tree and a seventeen inch silver tree, and I've been trying to find ornaments that don't q) clash b) are size appropriate.

(Try Fred Meyer (or.... Kroger? Because that's what they're giving me as a store name), for ornaments/tree toppers. They have mini sets all over here, but I can't tell how big your tree is, and the topper is too big for both my trees. It might be worth a shot!)

My tree is a tiny 3 foot tabletop deal. Kroger is a grocery store here, not a multi-purpose store like Fred Meyer. I think they belong to the same corporate family, though.

I bought a big plastic tub of those silver balls at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. They usually have the single color sets there, but they're not on the west coast. The little present ornaments came from Crate & Barrel. My sister got them on clearance last year, I think.

...I totally put a q instead of an a up there.

I also recall that yes, Kroger is only a grocery store. Crap. But they're definitely the same family, because Freddie's gave me Kroger as an option. Sorry!

That is an ugly ass shrub!

I love your little tiny tacky tree. it's so cute. Especially all lit up.

Hmm that pie looked yummy, nomnom. I was discussing your fudge earlier today with my mom, were your ears burning?

I love the ice covered dogwood, pretty.

P.S. Fic Memories, I can't recall the title but it was your DMOC AU where they met at fake government thing, I very vividly recall Cooper's reaction once he'd had Josh all eyelined up for a club.

Also more recently, Finn finally making his move on Will and Will with his forehead touching, forehead touching does me in.

Also that Forsaken fic with the milk you wrote for me. And the one where (OMG what was Fehr's name in the movie!) Fehr as whoever whispers poetry to Sean.

Haha that badly written senior year series. The eyeliner fic! I remember it well.

I can't remember the Forsaken milk fic. Nick was Fehr's character, though. It was confusing because I was writing a lot of Nick/Greg at the time as well.

Will and his forehead touching! He's such a dopey romantic. It totally suits them.

Oh, that shrub. I really, really hate that shrub.

Thanks! I love my tacky tree too. It's very sparkly and clashes horribly with my orange living room, which is, of course, the whole point.

Oh, fudge. I have failed on that score for a couple years now. I should do something about that.

I more than "enjoy[ed] it okay" I'm pretty sure I rapturously inhaled half that thing. It was amazing! I'm a loser and have still only read the first of Kurt/Puck, but the part where Kurt sees the picture of Summer/Beth and Puck is thinking about how they took away the one thing he could give her just was heart wrenching for me.

You're not a loser! I'm pretty obsessed with Puck and his teen father issues, though, so thanks for appreciating that moment :)

If I can find the time before Wednesday (my last work day until next year! OMG I NEED A BREAK FROM THAT PLACE.) I am going to try my hand at some Christmas-y treats that I've never made before. If they work out okay I'll bring you some up.
