The music meme is going around again, and who doesn't love free music?

1) La Cienega Just Smiled -- Ryan Adams: I am not a huge Ryan Adams fan. I mean, I like him, but I find him a little oppressive after awhile. This song is as sad as all his others, but it's so beautiful that I can overlook that. Bonus: the even more depressing cover by Doveman.
2) Lovin' Arms -- Poco: There was a brief period in the early '90s when I was obsessed with Stephen Stills. The result of this obsession was seeking out any project with even a remote connection to him. Enter Buffalo Springfield, which eventually led me to Poco, an underappreciated country-infused rock band that you have probably heard, and I am not talking about the time they used "Keep On Tryin'" on Bones. You just don't know you've heard them. This isn't one of the songs you've probably heard, but it starts with L, and it's still a good song. Poco makes me want to get in the car and just drive.
3) Listen to the Radio -- Nanci Griffith: It's a song about freedom and leaving the past behind. Great for singing along really loud in the car.
4) Lie to Me -- Martin Zellar: From the solo effort of the Gear Daddies frontman comes this song about those perfect days where everything feels right, and how much you will sacrifice to hold onto that feeling for as long as possible.
5) Life In a Northern Town -- Dream Academy: I *still* love this song. I can't decide if that's lame or not. I still love "Tenderness" too, so I'm guessing the answer is yes.
Choosing just five songs is always so hard. But if you want to give it a go, you know what to do.
