a pre-birthday meal

Last night my friends and I went to my favourite Thai restraunt, the one with the second hand table and chairs. There was going to be 9 of us but 2 couldnt make it. Alan, Sean's partner had fallen down a bus stair well about a week ago and while not badly hurt was badly bruised. So he said he was still uncomfortable and would I mind if he gave it a miss. Sean was scandelised because he let it out of the bag that Alan was well enough to go to a church do instead. I don't mind, it must be hell for a BOA Christian to be surrounded by all these nutty pagans!

Juliet couldn't make it either. Her daughter is about to make her a grandmother and she is watching the phone and her 14 yr old cat Sueki has had about £150 spent on her recently because she has cancer and is going blind. Juliet is broke after this and is also afraid of leaving Sueki for any lenght of time. I sympathise about this greatly and I plan on inviting her out for a meal on me or even cooking one for her, as soon it's possible, when ever that maybe.

Miriam got me some art materials wrapped up in fancy paper including a can of hairspray. Terry bought me a canvas on a frame of a statue of Buddha in gold, he said if you don't like it then paint it over. Of course I won't, it's lovely. Rebecca hand made a rune set in a black velvet bag. It's the Elder Futark which means there are only 16 runes. She made them out of clay and shaped them like flowers and painted them shiny pink! She also gave me a hand written scroll with the meanings on. I just wish it wasn't in silver pen on lilac paper. I can't see what is written even with my glasses and a magnifing glass. I may have to write them out again myself.

Sean has already taken me to a Christy Moore concert for his present. And John and Caroline brought me a strangly shaped bag with an antler in. It was obviously Johns' present and Caroline being a bit embarressed by it, tried dressing it up in green ribbons and silk flowers attached. I love it! I have always wanted an antler, why I have no idea and what I'm going to do with it, I don't know. But it was clever of John to know. There was also a large bottle of brandy in the bag and they are going to take me to Glastonbury on Saturday as the other part of my present. For years John has been buying me brandy and it was the one alcoholic drink I hated. But he has persisted and I finally like it.

The meal was good, cheap and the service excellent, it is a BYO. And there were loads of bottles of wine on the table, in fact the bottle I took was unopened so I brought it back. It was also great company, and Rebecca and Caroline have never met before and I could see they got on like a house on fire. It's always nice to see seperate parts of my life join up together.

This morning I am a little hung over to find that Patrick was at my door at 9.30am. I met him many years ago when in a Job Club. He is now self employed as a cleaner, who's books are so full he has a waiting list. He brought a card and suggested we go to Weymouth for the day swimming on the beach. We are going on the 28th. Lets hope it will be warm enough.

Well I have to get on with cleaning and tidying the flat as my brother (recently bereathed) and my 3 sisters and partners are coming at 6 pm tomorrow. We are going out for a meal somewhere near here.

I'm enjoying this birthday already.

There was only one photo taken t=and that was of me sticking the antler on the side of my head.
