Reccing, vids and meta
I was on an original fic reading spree when I found the following fic. I was a bit hesitant to recommend it because you never know where WIPs will end up and whether the quality stays constant. But then I thought that people who do read WIPs are willing to take that risk and I really don't think this one will disappoint me.

An absolutely fascinating original series that's set in 1850's Britain. A very unusual boy is adopted to the Odsworth family and life with him around turns out...interesting. I love the contrast of the often dark subject matter and light, humorous style. Interesting use of pervy fairies. It's mischievous and captivating, even a little surreal at times. I'm not sure where the story will end up but I'm enjoying the ride. This one really stood out as - well, for a lack of a better term - original. Try it out even if you normally just read fanfic.

Say, I use the dishwashing liquid Dobby. My mother likes, say, Winky and every time she visits me, she keeps telling me I should use it too -- motherly advice, you know. She wishes all the best for her baby girl. But my aunt hates Winky and for every word of my mother's praise of it, she says 10 words about how it's really no good at all, smells disgusting, corrupts her skin etc. What's in it for me? The main thing: increased name recognition. I wouldn't notice Winky in a supermarket among the dozens of washing liquid brands on the shelf if my family members didn't mention it. But now I do, and every time I see a bottle of it, I think, "Maybe I should try it and form my own opinion? So I could tell one of them to shut up already." So one day I buy it, try washing dishes with it and form my own opinion at last.
