this bit of writing made me smile. Talking about a Doctor old enough to have seen the first Dr Who... You'd have to have been born in the mid-to-late fifties at the latest to have watched (and appreciated) the original during its 1963 air date. That lets out Tennant, Eccleston, and probably McGann.
The actor themselves would have to be about 50 at the youngest. Hartnell was in his fifties when he played the First Doctor, as was Pertwee for the Third Doctor. Other 50+ Doctors of TV have included Peter Cushing and Richard Hurndall (as the First Doctor), Michael Jayston as the Valeyard, and Joanna Lumley as the Thirteenth Doctor.
