Pairing: Beezus/Sonny

Disclaimer: Still own nothing. Still sucks.

A/N: So this started out as a oneshot for the week 3 Writer's Challenge over at D_S, but as you can see, it kind of grew into something more...

The raven-haired girl's feet pounded up the steps, an aggravated scoff freed itself from her lips as she flung open the door and stepped inside her home. Today had NOT been a good day. Even by Beezus-standards. Ignoring her mother, Dorothy Quimby, as she scolded the teen for slamming the door, Beezus raced to her room and plopped face down into the downy comforter covering her bed, wanting nothing more than to wallow in her own sorrow and forget the entire world existed for a few days. Fate, however, had other plans. After only a few moments of reveling in how stupid and jerky that stupid jerk Henry was, Ramona flung open her older sister's door, leaping onto the bed beside her and jumping up and down until Beezus was forced to roll over and see what could possibly be more important than her own teen angst.

"What is it, twerp?" The teenager groaned, wasn't it bad enough Ramona had gotten the entire week off of school while she had to put up with that hellhole called high school? Oh, she could put up with the mountains of homework and the snotty teachers well enough, but lately she just couldn't handle her peers. As if most of them being as dumb as cavemen isn't bad enough... she began to think when she was interrupted by Ramona shouting in her face.

"HELLOOOOOO? Earth to Beezus! Geez, and you complain about -me- spacing out." The fourth-grader continued to race around the room now in excitement.

"Would you get to it? Not all of us have the patience to deal with little kids you know."

Ramona skidded to a halt and skipped back over to Beezus, a wide grin splitting across her face. "Oh you don't have to tell me, remember how you made Howie cry at my last birthday party?"

"That SO wasn't my fault. The kid stuck his finger in the cake." The older girl's eyes widened as she waved her arms around for affect in an attempt to defend herself. How was she to know Ramona's best friend was so sensitive? She didn't even yell at him that much! "So uh... did you have a reason for coming in here?" Beezus ventured, trying to steer the topic of conversation away from herself.

"Oh yeah! You'll never guess what happened today!" Beezus rolled her eyes, oh joy. She probably found a slug in the garden or some other utterly ridiculous contest. But it was always better to humor Ramona when she got all excited. It was quicker and less painless than the alternative.

"Oh, Ramona. Please grace me with the knowledge of what amazing event occurred whilst I was away at school?"

"I won a contest! A radio contest, a huuuuuge one! I get to live on the set of that TV show So Random for an entire MONTH! I even get to bring along one other person, whoever I want!"

"Psh, are you sure you didn't misread month as Monday or something, kid? What celebrities would put up with hyperactive toddlers for that long?" Ramona stuck her chin out indignantly, hands on her hips in what she obviously thought was a mature posture.

"I will have you know I am NOT a toddler. I have nearly been on this earth for an ENTIRE decade."

"Age is but a number, 'Mona. Besides, you can't bring Howie with you, OR an imaginary friend." Beezus got up, stretching slightly as she pranced down the stairs to the kitchen for a drink, closely followed by Ramona, who seemed to be contemplating her options. Right as Beezus took a sip of her water however, she spat it right back up at Ramona's next comment.

"Why don't you come with me? I mean you like that Sonny girl a WHOLE lot! Almost more than Henry!"

Reaching blindly out for a towel as she coughed, fingers closing around a dish cloth a few moments later. After about a minute of floundering and recovering her breath the dark haired teen wheeled around to face Ramona, who was giggling like mad.

"WHAT?"

"Well you're like her number one fan! I bet you and her would make really good friends, just like you and Henry." Mouthing Ramona's reply to herself for a few seconds the elder sister shook her head, trying to push down the blush that was undoubtedly crawling up her face. Thank god her sister was still too young to understand that her feelings for the comedy star were far from friendly. Probably the worst thing to do would be to accompany Ramona to California, besides, she could barely stand her little sister as is, how would she be expected to take care of her without blowing her top? But it's not like Beezus could tell her that, she still had some regard for the girl's feelings. She was about to fish for another excuse, though it would probably be pretty lame, when Beezus heard her dad's voice behind her.

"I think it'd be a great idea! Go and see the world, have some fun! You could use a little fun, couldn't you Bee? Haven't you been stressed at school lately?"

"Uh, yes. I mean no. I mean-- Mom probably wouldn't want us to leave for a whole month. And--" Just as she was about to continue with her rambling, her mom appeared from around the corner. Curse this house's layout, ambushed by parents twice in a couple minutes while Beezus had been trying to think of excuses.

"I think I can speak for myself, Beezus. I think it would be good also, but Robert did seem to forget two crucial things. What would you two do for school and living arrangements?"

"I-- uh.. Exactly! Those kids on So Random probably graduated years ago, all of those home schooled celebrities finish early... and... stuff?" Finally thinking she was in the clear, Beezus was once again proved wrong as Ramona quipped cheerfully.

"The guy on the radio said if we had any questions we could call the producer, Marshall! Remember, Mom?"
The Quimby girls' father fished around in his pockets before producing a piece of scrap paper. "Ramona's right, I have the number we wrote down right here."

"Oh... great. You better go call then Mom, I'll uh... be in my room." Beezus announced, before walking away a little faster than was necessary. After arriving at her room, the eldest Quimby child groaned and plopped down once more on her bed, much like she had only half an hour ago, mumbling out in distain. "Worst... day... ever."
