at first sight the clock alone
drives light from its face
handless limitless flat ticking space
at hour or so later
an hour without length
on the slippery face of ephemeral love
in the fight of the smoke of a train of events
to find the open of a named arrival
in the signal of becoming something other than thought
on the pain of perhaps when there is no ought
the clock is white and points to the time
in a flash of plane through the shift of light
to its coat of paint on a colored whim
to the sideboard unknown life for its stand
to the ring on its top for a hand
