Calling all Gatiss fans! Don't miss this long overdue new reading of his third Lucifer Box novel on Radio 4 Extra next week. Five instalments, over five days starting Monday 17 October, each repeated at various times so that there's really no excuse to miss it:

Tune in! Nobody reads the hilarious and often naughty adventures of Lucifer Box better than his creator. I've read all three - hearing Mark's distinctive voice in my head throughout. :-))
Who is Lucifer Box? From Wikipedia: Lucifer Box is a fictional character created by Mark Gatiss. He appears in the novels The Vesuvius Club, The Devil in Amber and Black Butterfly. Quote from Stephen Fry after reading The Vesuvius Club: "The most delicious, depraved, inventive, macabre and hilarious literary debut I can think of. More, I want more!"
Paragraph from Amazon product description for Black Butterfly:
LUCIFER BOX. He's tall, he's dark and, like the shark, he looks for trouble. Or so he wishes. For, with Queen Elizabeth newly established on her throne, the now elderly secret agent is reaching the end of his scandalous career. Despite his fast-approaching retirement, queer events leave Box unable to resist investigating one last case...Why have pillars of the Establishment started dying in bizarrely reckless accidents? Who are the deadly pay-masters of enigmatic assassin Kingdom Kum? And who or what is the mysterious Black Butterfly? From the seedy streets of Soho to the souks of Istanbul and the sun-drenched shores of Jamaica, Box must use his artistic licence to kill and eventually confront an enemy with its roots in his own notorious past. Can Lucifer Box save the day before the dying of the light?
I certainly intend to record this reading for my audiobook collection. :-)
P.S. A "lucifer box" is a match box, lucifer being an archaic synonym for matches. Lucifer is also, of course, the name of the devil. :-)
