Labor Day

We went fishing today up near Lassen Park, at Hat Creek.  It's a pretty big trout fishing creek, appearntly people from all over come to fish there.  That's normally where we go fishing, though not in this specific spot, but that's ok, we normally try a nice place every time we go.  We haven't been for awhile, so it was fun.  My dad and I fish while my mom reads or does crafts or mom things.

Well.. I caught three fish.  And I don't eat them because while I do like fish, I'm not fond of trout.  So I do traumatize and release, which in my opinion is better than just killing them.  I think I was sort of turned off of that while watching my dad gut the mother fish with the eggs inside of her.  Anyway..I caught three and he didn't..catch any.  Which was kind of funny.  Somehow I always manage to out fish him, I don't know how it happens, but it does.  And the three that I caught were right in a row, in the same spot.  It was a good little hole, I could see them swimming around down there and when I'd cast in, they'd all spaz out and go for the bait.  They're tricky, they can grab the bait without getting stuck on the hook sometimes, so it takes a lot of patience and re-casting before you catch one, but it's worth it.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun.

Then we drove through Lassen Park, which was fun.  We used to camp there a lot and do stuff, go hiking and such.  We were going to go hiking, but we decided on fishing instead.  My mom wants to go back to hike though.  And! We saw snow *GASP*.  Snow.  In CA.  In September.  It's there year-round, but it was still pretty cool.  My dad hit me with a snowball in the back...dork.
