Something very odd just happened. I don't have my iPod in my ears and so it's pretty quiet in here. The ice cream truck just drove down my block. The tune usually annoys me. It was particularly haunting today.
The tune?
It was playing, "Silent Night"....

THANK YOU, new_buddhist for the care package that arrived in the mail today! This recovery from a week in the hospital and 2 surgeries has been rocky, at best, and not going as smoothly as anticipated. The pain has lingered and I have to sadly admit that I still feel sick. I had to go to the pharmacy to get my antibiotic prescription filled. Of course, it isn't covered by insurance. Boo-hiss. When I heard the price - I nearly shat myself. Each pill costs $8.75! Outrageous! You'd think the pain of the kidney stone was enough...

I had my second surgery yesterday and everything went fine. The giant rock (and it's accoutrement) that was living just outside my left kidney is completely gone now. It's been sent to the lab for analysis. Kidney stones can be made up of many things - I'm just wondering what variety I grew since I haven't eaten meat since 1987 ( Read more... )

I'm not sure how much all the surgery stuff is going to cost me. As it was last time - I'm bracing myself for the onslaught of bills. A letter came in the mail. "You have been approved for medical care." It appears that my CT scan was deemed a "medical necessity"! That's good news - approved. Then they hit you with the bad shot.
