It took a while to get used to the smaller and lighter Sentinel suits, but there was still a sense of ... peace-- calm-- that took over as Heero sat in the cockpit of the mini-Zero Sentinel. Though, without the system that gave it its name, it was more akin to a miniature version of the Wing Gundam.

As they eased into the North Korean airspace, Heero flexed his fingers on the controls and glanced at the diagnostics on his screen. Ignoring Duo's question, he instead outlined their mission and objectives briefly. "Quatre's right; we should take out their command stations first if possible. Three of us will take down the other units; Quatre, you head for communications and control. We should try to retain our element of surprise for as long as possible."

He paused for the others' assent, before continuing, "Once we get to the base, Duo will go in for data extraction. The rest of us will take care of the suits. Duo, you'll have thirty minutes. Can you manage that?"

In all reality, it was just easier to design the suits after their first generation Gundam than the upgrades. For one thing, the upgrades had been built for space combat, while the originals were created to fight on Earth- the extra equipment could both potentially leave to enemies, giving them technology they shouldn't have, when they didn't need it. ZERO System, most of all- especially to Duo and to Quatre, was something they never wanted this world to see ( ... )

Duo cracked a grin to himself. "¡Sí, mi Capitán!" Duo chortled, hanging back, watching the radar and minding the team's defense as they took care of the border security.

Quatre's comment was met with a moment of quiet consideration, and Duo frowned a little. "That's what you get in governments where they care more about their concentration of power and military status than they do making sure the citizens can make a living," he muttered. They were all, the four of them, familiar with that very sort of government, of course. Nothing more had to be said. It was as if looking into a mirror in which the colonies had been agricultural communities, rather than scientific ones.

"Two minutes until we reach the base- when the guns start ablazin', I'm heading off," Duo announced, muscles tensing. He looked over the layout of the structure he was about to sneak into, trying to burn it into his brain.

There was silence on the radio waves as all four of them considered the parallels. It wasn't a big surprise that there existed such governments everywhere; mankind's biggest desire was, and likely always will be, military power before all else. It was what the Earth Sphere and OZ both looked to the colonies to provide for them. The deeply-ingrained survival instincts within humans translated into an almost-compulsive need to acquire more arms for "national security". Back home, Relena's efforts were starting to have some effects toward a path of pacifism, but that may be only because the memories of war were so fresh. Here ( ... )
