He kept hoping that he might get some sort of message from Charlie, but at this point he was willing to assume she was never going to talk to him again, which really sucked. If he had the energy at the moment, he would have probably gotten more depressed about that thought, but he was just too tired and already depressed from the several days of no word from her he'd gone through already.
Maybe talking to some people on this trip would prove a nice distraction.

But honestly...she kind of missed him. And now she was convinced he was going to hate her. She had a big wad of poorly written, vaguely nonsensical letters in her hand as she entered the tent, not saying anything as she walked over and dropping down onto the edge of the cot next to his.
"...Uh. Hi, Josh." for a moment it seemed like she might hand him the wad of papers, but she just held them in her lap.

For what seemed like forever he'd been waiting to talk to her to try and explain what it was she saw and to apologize to her. Now that she was here though, he was having difficulty finding the words to say.
"Hey," he managed to say.

This is where a super-strong man of steel is useful, lifting girders and helping hold them into place while engineers worked to secure them once again.
Those who work around him have to wear protective sunglasses, though, since the desert sun shines so brightly off of his skin that it's a painful distraction.

"Hey, shiny man, do you want some lunch? I think it's a pb&j I didn't really look." She'd wave the bag at him, offering a grin. And yes, she found sunglasses to put on.
