ARRIVAL satisfiedsigner May 27 2010, 06:36:04 UTC
Kiryu dragged his bag off the carousel, shrugging his other higher onto his shoulder to keep it from falling off. It was the heavier one; he hadn't packed much into his checked bag.

He couldn't keep the grin off his face, and he was definitely in better spirits than he had been anytime recently. Finally, off that damn plane and here in Peru. As tired as he was, he couldn't wait to start sight-seeing. The Nazca lines were so close...

But that could wait a couple days. There was stuff to see right around here too.

Alastair, on the other hand, had pretty much everything in his checked bag except for his laptop and comm. As much as he wanted to be completely carefree on this vacation, things going to hell in recent days meant he had to keep his technology on him in case he needed to work from Peru.

Stupid Porter.

He had his long coat and sunglasses on, standing taller than many of the people swirling around them in the airport with one hand on the handle of his luggage. "Well. Here we are, I guess."

NAZCA LINES! there's also a planetarium. :D satisfiedsigner May 27 2010, 06:36:36 UTC
Being so near the geoglyphs made him twitchy. He knew it. He was trying not to be obvious about it. It had been his idea to spend the night in Nazca and book a tour flight for the next day rather than get up horribly early for one.

But he'd hardly slept, even though he'd slept better the past few nights here in Peru than almost the entire last year. And he kept grabbing at his mark, probably out of nerves. But he knew what they were going to see; he'd looked at a million pictures. Being this nervous was ridiculous.

It didn't stop him from being the first one up and ready to head out, though.

OTL I am such an idiotic person I've had company over all day and forgot this ><; /hits self forever wolfuntamed June 1 2010, 04:04:57 UTC
Saitou had noticed the twitching immediately. And the arm-grabbing.

He wasn't positive yet how to respond to it, though, or even mention it aloud. Because this wasn't familiar territory to him like Japan had been, and this was Kiryu's home more than it would ever be for him. He still didn't bode well to the idea of flying even for necessity, but this trip was mostly for humoring whatever reasons Kiryu needed to be here. And in all honesty they were probably safer here than they ever would be at home.

He had to shake his head with a light smile at Kiryu's rushing off, however. Predictable as always. Didn't stop him from following, though.

On the other hand, Alastair tried to sleep in. It was hard, but he managed to be fashionably late in the end, wandering out to meet the others still rubbing his eyes. It had to be caffeine withdrawals, honestly, coupled with the constant concentration required not to lapse into Spanish every time some passerby opened their mouth. "Morning," he groaned, slipping his sunglasses on. "Where's this tour thing, anyway?"

June 2 (probably before the above thread, idk, the timing was just perfect /o\ feel free to ignore) satisfiedsigner June 5 2010, 23:01:21 UTC
Waking up this morning to see the date on his comm was an unpleasant surprise. He'd almost forgotten what had been approaching. The lack of a certain bastard on the network had made it a little easier to forget.

A year ago, he'd been dead. Not like he'd been at home, but really, truly dead. And he'd come back without the help of his God or the others. It didn't sit right with him then, after the second time he'd died, or now. It was why he was here, really.

But he hadn't really wanted to be reminded of it either.

And then he'd decided to go looking through the network to see if the "war" had progressed any further. Not that he'd be going back no matter what happened, not yet, but he was curious. He hated the feeling that he was running away, even though he wasn't.

Yuusei was here.

Fianlly, finally, after almost a year of waiting, Yuusei had been dragged back here again ( ... )

no way man you are awesome hackeralastair June 6 2010, 01:11:33 UTC
Alastair had checked the comm first, and saw it first, but didn't say anything to Kiryu. He had more of an inkling about this trip than he let on, and hearing Yuusei's voice again was a cue that maybe he shouldn't interfere. But after Kiryu found it himself and responded, well...all bets were off then.

He found his friend people-watching and slunk up from the side. "Hey. What'cha doing?"

Kiryu shrugged, glancing at him to see where he was, though his attention was still mostly on the street. His comm was clenched tight in one hand, but he'd muted it for now.

"Thinking." He smiled a little, adding, "Like usual lately."

"Yeah, you've been thinking a lot." Lame, but it had to be said. Alastair leaned on the wall next to him and tucked his hands in his pockets. "Everything okay?"

June 9/10 blah blah LA was bombed blah satisfiedsigner June 13 2010, 04:21:32 UTC
Kiryu turned his comm off and shoved it into the bottom of his bag as soon as the news reports started coming in. He didn't really have a problem with bombs, and he didn't really care either way about the HIVE, but he had a problem with the government using bombs, especially against something in their own country.

And he certainly didn't want to hear or see all of the stupid chatter about how horrible it was and how could they or why didn't they do more earlier, that was exactly what needed to be done.

Fuck them. Fuck all of them.

And Alastair probably already knew, but damn, he was going to keep his mouth shut about this.

[ooc: also, a plane disappeared after flying over Nazca later that morning. hngh /o\]

Oh, Alastair knew. He actually caught it on the news first, and then checked his comm to make sure Bakura was all right. And promptly demanded a night out on the town to pretend the wider world didn't exist and nothing was wrong. After a while, though, he could be found stretched out on a bed in the hotel room, the TV on mute with the captions on, scrolling the latest news in Spanish across the bottom. At least it was something different besides the local hubbub about the guy who killed the girl in the casino two weeks ago.

((ooc: gjkhadfkjasgheuyagfwd well so apparently hijacking Nasca tour planes is all the rage?))

Kiryu eventually made his way to Alastair's room to check on him. A night on the town was great, of course, but there'd been something...off. And so soon after all the news reports (which were still everywhere, he supposed the USA didn't bomb things very often).

He knocked a couple times on the door-frame before just walking in anyway. "Alastair? You in here?"

"Hey." Alastair shifted his attention to the doorway, though his face was still serious. "What's up?"
