Report #005 - Video - Forward Dated, early Thursday Morning

Oct 26, 2011 22:45

[Have a Roxanne, City; she's not nearly so chipper -- the morning makeup isn't entirely hiding the marks sleepless nights have left, and she's a little pale beneath her concealer. She's not smiling, either. Her expression might best be called 'neutral', the type that people take on when they really don't want to let whatever it is they're feeling ( Read more... )

[Andromeda flicks on the comm -- it's obvious that she's at work -- and purses her lips for a moment before she speaks.]

So, aside from the obligatory getting smashed that we are going to be doing soon enough -- I have both a strong-backed cousin, and the ability to send you to a beautiful tropical paradise so you can miss whatever unspeakable horrors are going to be going on here this weekend.

somewhat better encryption, thank you - video. pluckyreporter October 27 2011, 05:07:09 UTC
Normally I'd argue. There's a lot to cover here. End of the world, big news. I can't just run. If they do take everything down, someone needs to be here to get the facts straight, get them to the population.

Normally.

But right now I -- don't really know what to do. Been a rough week. This just tops it off before the end of the world, I guess.

[A beat.]

Least he's safe.

Yes, and you need to make sure that you're safe too.

You could probably use a vacation, anyway. Am I right?

I don't know. Is there going to be much difference between here and Hawaii if that thing doesn't get stopped?

Get back to me after the apocalypse on those, okay?

Right now I just want to make it through this weekend without losing my mind or dying.

No problem.

Do you really think this thing is going to be that bad?

[She alters her comm for a moment, and then finds the cleanest rag she can in Megamind's place -- that takes a second, okay? It's not exactly in the best condition -- and then gets it wet in the sink and wipes away her makeup.]

[She learned from the best to cover up stressful kidnapping, superhero antics, and long nights with no sleep. Her face is swallow, her eyes puffy and bruised looking, and her expression grim.]

If what I'm -- picking up -- [Not wanting to specify to the attorney she helped hire her empathic abilities] is a fragment of what's coming....

Yes.

Yes, I think it will be that bad. The City is a powerkeg. Even if it's half that bad, the fear and anxiety alone will lead to a panic that'll cost lives.

[Lucky Megamind got out in the nick of time.]

Are you staying or going?

If you stay, are you going to want to record things like you did with the Mist expedition?

I don't think so -- it'll be very dangerous, what's coming. I don't think it'd be safe to report on, mid-crisis.

[ Well, their last conversation didn't work out so well, but. ]

Your boyfriend's left town?

[ He looks away from the camera, already regretting saying that. He turns back. ]

I can have heavy lifting covered.

[She smirks, though it doesn't quite reach her eyes, wry.]

That makes it sound like he dumped me and left me with his crap. But-- yes, looks like he's been Ported out. All his things are here. Even his watch, and I don't think I've ever seen him without that on.

[She nods once.]

Right. Good thing, because... man I don't know how someone so skinny hauled all this stuff up here. Must've been the bots.

You think he'll be back?

I got your back. [ He's looking around from what he can see through the video ] Got a lot of weird junk, huh?

If he's not back after an average of three days, the next major point is --two weeks, but that's--

[only if something killed him; let's not think too hard on that]

--probably not the right time frame.

If he's not back in three days, he's probably not coming back in a predictable time frame. [tiny, if bitter, smile] Finally got me there. No way to predict that...

( donna, anticipating the horrors of the weekend, is wearing her starfield and armored bracelets today--a look she hasn't been seen in recently. she glances at the camera with concern. )

Roxanne? Are you alright?

[...that's a new look for you, there, Donna. Briefly distracted Roxanne blinks and then-- just nods. ]

Yeah. I'll live.

[She's no real stranger to heart ache -- hell, it was just a month ago, by her perception, that she'd dumped him.... and shortly thereafter, took him back.]

..what's with the... costume?

That's not quite the same thing, but I'll take your word for it.

( donna looks kind of surprised, as if she hand't anticipated the question. it seems almost incidental to her now. )

Oh! Well, I don't want to be caught unawares when the fighting starts, and since I was already helping with evacuations...

No, it's not. We'll get to 'alright' sometime, though. Eventually.

[She considers Donna's answer, and then nods]

Just a look I've never seen on you. Hard to know who is active in the scene and who is just a pumped up bystander. You did the superhero gig back home, then?
