Report #005 - Video - Forward Dated, early Thursday Morning

Oct 26, 2011 22:45

[Have a Roxanne, City; she's not nearly so chipper -- the morning makeup isn't entirely hiding the marks sleepless nights have left, and she's a little pale beneath her concealer. She's not smiling, either. Her expression might best be called 'neutral', the type that people take on when they really don't want to let whatever it is they're feeling ( Read more... )

( donna, anticipating the horrors of the weekend, is wearing her starfield and armored bracelets today--a look she hasn't been seen in recently. she glances at the camera with concern. )

Roxanne? Are you alright?

[...that's a new look for you, there, Donna. Briefly distracted Roxanne blinks and then-- just nods. ]

Yeah. I'll live.

[She's no real stranger to heart ache -- hell, it was just a month ago, by her perception, that she'd dumped him.... and shortly thereafter, took him back.]

..what's with the... costume?

That's not quite the same thing, but I'll take your word for it.

( donna looks kind of surprised, as if she hand't anticipated the question. it seems almost incidental to her now. )

Oh! Well, I don't want to be caught unawares when the fighting starts, and since I was already helping with evacuations...

No, it's not. We'll get to 'alright' sometime, though. Eventually.

[She considers Donna's answer, and then nods]

Just a look I've never seen on you. Hard to know who is active in the scene and who is just a pumped up bystander. You did the superhero gig back home, then?

I know the sentiment. When this is all over, we should try and go out for a bit of fun. ( because one of donna's best friends is dead and the other left recently, so she very much shares the feeling. )

Yeah, there hasn't been much use for it recently, though that seems like it's changing. But, to answer your question, yes. It was... my whole life, really. Since I was about thirteen.

Andromeda's threatening to teleport me to a sunny island somewhere. But if we live out the holiday, we are totally going to do -- something spectacular.

Possibly involving sunny islands like Andromeda threatens.

[...huh. Another young one.]

Yeah. I -- know career folks. He was one of them. I -- can't really imagine. I didn't really figure out what I wanted to do with myself till I was screwing up my life in college and had to really make a hard call or two.

You guys must really have some steel to you to start so young.

[But then, for some, there's just no other option.]

Sounds like it's on the better end of threats, if you ask me.

( donna bites her lip, then shrugs. )

I don't really think of it as steel, so much as... I don't know. I mean, we definitely wanted to help people, and of course I still do. But for me a lot of it was emulating my sister, and wanting to put what I could do to good use.

It's a fantastic threat. We just need to figure out which island has the nicest beaches and best drinks.

[...worldhopping girl's night out? Why not.]

Family in the business? My dad wanted me to be a lawyer, but I had no interest in it. I can't imagine -- family superheroes.

Gotta say, I like the star field affect.

I'm partial to the Mediterranean, myself.

Well it's...sort of hard not to, when one person in the family's already doing it. At least, that's how I felt.

( donna blushes a little, pushes a lock of hair behind her ear. ) Thanks. I do try.

It's classy. Very otherworldly without being ostentatious.

...

God I've been around you guys way too long, if I'm doing costume critiques. Man, I remember when all this was just a pain in the butt trying not to be kidnapped when I had something important to do.

Anyway.

Yes. Mediterranean, you say? Sounds lovely.

I've always thought so. ( there's just a hint of smirk, there. )

It's a slippery slope, from rescuee to fashion consultant.

( and here's a laugh. ) Sure did. Once this is all over, I think I'll need the vacation.

I will just stay a reporter... and leave fashion for people who don't go into sewers for a story.

[she laughs]

Lovely beaches, lots of history, great food... can't go wrong there.

Fair enough.

We should definitely make it out there, then. I haven't had much time to see anywhere other than the City, in this world.

Maybe I can do a report on how the super-set vacations.
