Reading this review/interview with John Haught on Salon, I can't quite decide whether I want to read his book. But he makes some interesting points in the interview, and some that I'm not sure I agree with, and anyhow, it has certainly been food for thought. So I'm linking it here, so that when I am some day free to devote myself to reading about the "new atheism", I will also remember Haught's books.
John Haught discussing his book "God and the New Atheism" Also, farewell to the Hyde Park Co-op! Not that I've shopped there often lately...but it is still a major change to think of the neighborhood grocery store folding. I'll be interested to see what comes in. Thanks to
frenchpony for
the heads-up.
The
Iowa caucus results have finally kicked me into researching the candidates a bit (beyond what I've picked up at random from, ya know, being awake). Mostly, I've learned that I don't know enough about several of the issues, and that there are still points I like and points I'm less fond of for each of the three Democratic front-runners.
Possibly it is pointless to be researching the candidates at all, since I live in Chicago. But still, one likes to stay informed.
The new phase of illness is coughing and a massively sore throat. In case anyone is tracking whether I'm healthy yet.
P.S. Whups, almost forgot to mention! Car is back, with newly rehabbed struts and brakes. Yay!
