Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2008 11:09

Hope your evenings went well--mine certainly did! And you know, this thing where I don't have a hangover is kind of neat.

Last evening was lovely. I tried a new experiment for dinner--Vietnamese lemongrass chicken and rice noodles. Worked very well, and was recognizably Vietnamese even though I adapted the recipe madly. After dinner, thereek joined us for Buffy, and we got through nearly half the season before passing out. Champagne at midnight, and the three of us didn't even finish the bottle, despite attempting to use Red vines as straws for a while. (Hey, this wasn't really champagne worth appreciating. We're on a budget, you know.) For the record, red vines still make good straws. There was a fair bit of beer drunk, though.

I didn't keep either of my resolutions last year. I'm ditching the fitness resolutions for this year. That will work itself out over time. I do intend to do a better job on learning to play that guitar in 2008. Here's a goal: I need to be able to accompany myself credibly on two songs by the end of the year. Little steps.

I have caught up with a resolution from 2006, though. I may not have written any papers in 2006, but I have written drafts of several papers in 2007. Yay?

I'm ignoring the elephant in the room, so I might as well say it. I am going to graduate this year.

There is lots of fluffy snow on the ground. It is lovely to look at out the window, and I'm very glad I don't have to go outside. Poor Lex is at work, though. The auto shop closed early yesterday without telling me about it (after saying I could pick up my car Monday evening), so now I have to figure out how I'm getting to work tomorrow.
