i finished my first week of work. so far, it's been fairly boring, but i know that will change. working inside ford field is pretty sweet, and the office is beautiful. also, i can probably park for free in my lot for any tigers games :) the only downer is the distance; it takes me a little over an hour each way from ann arbor to detroit. this week i'm staying at my parents for a while to see if it's a better commute.
so far i've just been helping compile huge-a-mungus reports for a couple of projects and working on some data analysis. also went out to one of the projects to help one of the guys do some surveying. supposedly he'd been surveying for a long time, yet it took him about two forevers to set up the shot and read it (that might not make sense). i was frustrated and wanted to do his job.
the main project that my team works on is for the city of dearborn with a combined sewer overflow. this might sound lame, but when you actually see the projects in action, it's really exciting because the construction is absolutely massive. this picture is kind of bad, but you get the idea. the shaft is 116' in diameter and i think around 120' deep. huge!!
i was thinking the other day, and i realize i have never once been at an office that had a woman engineer. i mean, there are women, but most of them are receptionists, maybe a few technical girls. so basically, i am making it my mission to be amazing all the time. shouldn't be a problem ;)
what else... i just made my mom breakfast for mothers day. i must say, i did a darn good job. flowers, good silverware, delicious food and orange juice/champagne (memosas?). yay for moms, especially mine!!!
went to see a movie last night with jamie, mike and alain. it was that one about art students... i can't remember the name. anyways, i found it to be fairly entertaining, and according to jamie, very accurate. also, the lead role was a hottie-bo-body.
happy birthday to mpv tomorrow :)
readers digest is my favorite magazine and i really want a subscription.
i have nothing to do this weekend and i love it. i love that when you leave the office, that's it. i don't have to worry about homework and projects over the weekend :)
sorry for the lame post... i'm just killing time. i also apologize for the excessive use of smiley faces. i'm just in a good mood :)
