Friday morning Chris headed with his parents to visit their parents' cemeteries. We met up with them in downtown Baltimore for lunch at Fogo de Chao. Lunch was awesome! My dad loved it and so did everyone else. I certainly got in a great serving of protein. We stopped by Hard Rock Cafe for a drink before leaving the city.
On the way home we went to Target to pick up the nursery furniture. Turns out it has been discontinued and no Target anywhere around is carrying it. I can't even find it online at other retailers. Four pieces (convertible crib, glider with ottoman, change table, and dresser) would have cost about $900 which would have been great. We checked the cribs at Sears and they had nothing. I'll be waiting to see what Target replaces the crib set with, it should be soon. If I don't care for it I'll go ahead and pick up something from Babies R Us.
I just wish I could have gotten it when our parents were here. My parents want to buy the crib and Chris' parents said they'd like to contribute to the nursery too. It would have been nice for them to be here when we got it. My parents left us $1k, I'm not sure what all they expect me to buy with that as I'd never buy a crib that expensive. I'll have to clear that up with my mom since that is a lot of money. I'm going to guess that if Chris' parents still want to help with the nursery we'll just tell them what we're buying and the can decide what they want to contribute.
After not buying any furniture we headed home while Chris' parents went out with my MIL's sister and her husband. I ended up heading to bed early after washing everyone's bath towels. Gotta play good hostess. Saturday morning Chris' aunt dropped by to visit. She gave us a tiny little Christmas picture as well as the White House 2008 ornament.
After she left we went to Chris' aunt and uncle's house with his parents to have a Christmas dinner with his mom's side of the family. There was a gift exchange too. We happened to draw Chris' parents name and got them the griddle they wanted. We got a GC for Outback. We never eat at Outback but I guess we don't have any reason not to now that we have a GC. It was pretty late by the time we got home but we still got back before my parents did. They had gone out to a movie.
Sunday our parents headed off to play tourist in Annapolis. Chris and I enjoyed a few hours of alone time. We showered together before getting ready and heading out for a bit. We had lunch at On The Border then went to the mall to try to exchange my salt and pepper grinders. Unfortunately William-Sonoma doesn't carry the Le Creuset ones and I'm having a hard time tracking it down online. I'll have to contact a Le Creuset outlet to see if I can find them. There is one about an hour from here. If all else fails I'll bug Candace to pick them up at the Round Rock store.
After grabbing a coffee at Starbucks we headed home. Our parents returned some time after. Then we got a call from my brother. My oldest niece Felicia was in the hospital. Originally they thought she may have meningitis but after a spinal tap came back clear they began to suspect
Kawasaki Disease. She was in the hospital from Sunday until this (Wednesday) morning when they decided to move her home on a trial basis. I feel like she should be at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto, and from what I read about the disease I certainly don't understand why she's having new symptoms. At least her fever seems to have broken.
My parents stayed here on Monday. Mom and I went out to do some shopping at the mall and a few other stores. Mom picked up the cutest little necklace for Felicia. On our way home I stopped in at Taco Bell to grab a couple tacos. We were heading to Chris' aunt's for dinner but that was a few hours away and I was hungry. My mom got a taco salad and I picked a snack up for Chris too. Well it didn't sit well with him and just as we were sitting down for dinner with our parents, aunt and uncle, the nausea etc kicked in. We stayed through dinner but headed home leaving my parents and in laws to come home later. Poor hubby was up all night sick and had to go to sick call Tuesday morning. Ironically I was feeling better by then.
My parents decided to leave earlier than planned. They originally were going to stay until Thursday but were just too worried about Felicia. They got on the road around 6am and Chris' parents hit the road at 8. Chris slept the whole day on the couch while I watched TV etc and tried to stay quiet. He is feeling a bit better today, no nausea but still achy. I just made a turkey pie for a late lunch/early dinner and maybe we'll go see a movie this evening. Looks like it will be a quiet New Years Eve for us. I have the champagne my parents left but since Chris is under the weather and there is no one to share it with I'll hold on to it until the baby is born. Or for my shower, my guests can have mimosas!
Please keep Felicia and our family in your thoughts and prayers. I know I don't ever ask for anything like that but she is one sick little girl right now and we are all worried.
