It was the little gestures that made the biggest impact, especially in the first year of Ainsley’s life.
For example, after Merlin had to go back to work, Someone in their friend group would text Arthur a few times a day just to chat or to make sure he didn’t require anything.
Or when Gwen would text Arthur once a week to mention that she was at the store and wanted to know if he wanted her to pick anything up for him while she was there
Or when Morgana would show up randomly once a week and do a random chore, like laundry or doing the dishes.
Or when Lance would contact Arthur and mention that he was going to drop off a meal for them, but never mention that the meal was enough to last the couple for a few days.
Or when Leon would text him things that the other just seemed to know he needed to hear, like how he wasn’t awful for feeling miserable because Ainsley was crying so much and driving him insane.
Or when Gwaine would bring or even send little gifts for just Arthur and Merlin, like chocolate for Merlin or a book of Sudoku puzzles for Arthur.
Or when Percy would hold Ainsley while watching football games with their friends and didn’t mind when Arthur forgot to ask for her back.
Or even when Elyan would drop off diapers and wipes for Ainsley, just to be sure they never ran out.
Arthur knew that if it wasn’t for them, handling Ainsley as a newborn would have been much more difficult.
So, at her 1st birthday party, Arthur made sure to let them know how grateful he was for them being there to help with everything.
And if he teared up during his speech expressing his thanks, no one teased him once.
