For the record, I did not act like a big dork in public.
So, K and I showed up at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City and stood in line for 20 minutes or so before they opened the door to the place they had roped off for the auction. It turns out Jane has developed a home decorating line of products inspired by her home in Malibu, St. Catherine's Court in Bath, and some of her tv and movie roles. There was a silent auction of several autographed items from the collection, as well as a live auction of four other items. The live action items were one of her paintings, a set of candlesticks, a BIG signed Wedding Crashers poster, and an autographed tv with a pile of her dvds, all signed, to go with it. For the rest of us with lower budgets, we could buy books and dvds and her merchandise, and she signed it ALL. I bought Season 6 of Dr. Quinn, and her home decorating book. After the auction-y part was over, Jane gave a 30 minute talk about all the stuff she's selling and what inspired it and then answered a few questions. Of course, I was not able to think of any questions to ask in my "I can't believe I'm 2-10 feet away from Jane Seymour" state of mind. That was ok, though because then it was time for autographs. Friend K took the camera and up the line we went to get my things signed. I believe I said that I had wanted to meet her ever since I was about 11 and I'm 26 now. She replied, "My daughter is 26," and I blundered on and said that I thought her daughter and I have the same birthday. She seemed interested in the coincidence, confirmed it, and signed my book "To Abby Love Jane Seymour" and posed with me for a picture.
Then I went and ordered my very own Jane Seymour lamp with the base a replica of her doctor bag and stethoscope from Dr. Quinn. She said that any orders of it will come with a personalized autographed lampshade. As we were checking out, I asked what they were going to do with all the promotional posters and they gave me one. It isn't signed, but everything else is, so that's good enough for me.:)
OH. She was wearing a black and white colored knee length skirt, a white knit top, a black belt with a very large buckle, and black heeled boots. She also had on her Dancing with the Stars pendant that represents her and Tony dancing. K says her rings were gorgeous, but I forgot to look at her hands! She really is tiny all over. She must wear a size 0 petite. I did not especially like her outfit, but she did look good in it. She was lovely and gracious the whole time and never stopped smiling very genuinely. K was impressed by that part as well.
I am just beyond happiness. I can check another item off my "dreams" list and add it to the "accomplished" side.
