Thank you for your participation in Yuletide! This is one of my favorite sign ups of the year and I always really like whatever I get so really, there is no pressure to make me happy. More fic of things I like in this world always makes me happy!
I have broken my letter down into sections by fandom and general likes/dislikes. You can see my past letters here.
General Stuff
-I like happy stories! There can be angst but please happy endings!
-I love romance stories especially the smoldering ones that take like 300 pages for stuff to happen (also think this scene from Grey's Anatomy). BUT I also like friendship/gen stories.
-I detest pregnancy fic with the firey passion of 1000 suns. Please no fic about people being pregnant, finding out they are pregnant, having a baby (the birthing process or otherwise), wanting to have a baby or babies generally being in the fic. Even if it's canon.
-Sexy times and porn in the fic is ok but please have more going on then just boning!
-Prequels, sequels, "5 times x though this about y and 1 time they didn't" fics, the same scene from different perspectives, AUs, really pretty much anything is fine by me.
-Holiday fics are fun but not required!
-Feel free to include characters that I didn't specifically ask for if they fit your story
-I'm not big into slash pairings but if you'd like to do one I prefer femslash over slash.
-Please no fic with incest!
Persuasion
the what: Persuasion is Jane Austen's final novel and centers around Anne Elliot and Captain Frederick Wentworth. Several years before the start of the novel Anne, the daughter of a baronet, fell in love with and was engaged to Frederick Wentworth, then a low ranking member of the Navy. She was persuaded to break it off. The novel starts with Wentworth, now rich from the spoils of war, returning to town.
If you don't want to read the book (or don't have time), may I recommend the 2007 version of the movie (likely available at your local library!)?
the why: I ask for Persuasion every single Yuletide because I love it so much. I love that Anne is quiet and demure and not some headstrong character like most other Austen heroines (*cough*Emma*cough*Elizabeth*cough*). Her flaws and weaknesses are apparent and have a real effect on the story. I love Wentworth remaining steadfast in his feelings and all the crap that Anne puts him through. I love her and Wentworth together and their cute little quiet romance blossoming throughout the book. I love that their romance endures!
the prompts: I'd love literally anything for this series but an AU seems like it would be really fun to read?
Elementary
the what: Elementary is a modern day adaptation of Sherlock Holmes that places him in New York and Watson is a woman (played by the ever fabulous Lucy Liu).
the why: The relationship between Watson & Sherlock is the #1 reason I love and watch this show. I love that they had to work for their friendship and that Sherlock (mostly) doesn't take Joan for granted. I also super love how put out Joan is with Sherlock constantly - she's not his lapdog to follow him around and tell him how great he is. This interpretation of Sherlock (played by the also fabulous Jonny Lee Miller) is probably one of my favorites. He has tattoos. He's a recovering drug addict. He's like a messed up real person. It's great. I also really love how they take care of each other in subtle ways in the show.
the prompts:
-While I don't ship Watson/Sherlock I wouldn't be remiss if they have to like...go undercover and pretend to be married or something and like have to kiss or whatever
-I also like the other characters in the series (except Mycroft. I hate Mycroft.) so feel free to include them if you wish
-I'm also down for a solid friendship/BROtp fic
-Please include Clyde if you can!
Emma Approved
the what: Emma Approved is a modern day adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma created by the same people that did the Lizzie Bennet Diaries (you can watch it on youtube here). Emma is cast as a life coach and Mr. Alex Knightley (yes they changed the name, IDK why) is her business partner.
the why: I just love Emma and Alex together. I love that they compliment each other from a personality stand point and that is always supports her and believes that she can do anything. I also really like that it they have been friends for sooooo long and it takes them awhile to realize they have feelings for each other. Harriet and Martin are also super fun and adorable so feel free to include them if you like!
the prompts:
-Something post series! What is everyone up to?
-Alex & Emma doing...something cute and romantic!
-There are several good scenes in the series that I think would be good for showing from the other character's perspective
-I'm a big fan of the in world fashion blog so if you can somehow work that in, that would be great.
Figure Skating RPF
the what: Figure skating. Real people!
the why: I LOVE the Olympics (summer & winter) and I always LOVE figure skating. This year in Sochi my heart was captured by Meryl Davis & Charlie White, the USA based, GOLD MEDAL WINNING, ice dancing pair. They COMPLETELY changed my view on ice dancing and as a fellow dancer myself (though not of the ice variety), I really appreciate their artistry and how everything they do looks effortless and BEAUTIFUL. They are also super good at projecting emotion - I thought they were dating until I read somewhere they weren't. They have been partners for 17 YEARS. 17 YEARS. At the very least they must be very good/best friends.
the prompts: Because I follow both Meryl & Charlie on social media I can't really ship them anymore so please no porn/sex fic. If you want to do a relationship, please set it before Charlie starts dating his now fiancee or just pretend she doesn't exist (don't break them up!).
I'd love some Olympics fic (2010 in Vancouver or 2014 in Sochi is fine)! Or some like gen/best buds fic for when they are in school/training? Though I'd really love to relive the Olympics a bit.
