Saturday 9. In tow by President, proceeding towards Vancouver’s Island in company with the French and English Squadron.
Sunday 10. Stormy and Rain. Wind from N.N.E.
Monday 11th. A gale from N.W. In the evening while in tow by the President carried away the tow hawser.
Tuesday. 12th. Blowing heavily from S.S.W. Taken in tow again by the President.
Wednesday 13 Wind and weather Moderated. In the evening parted the hawser again and we proceeded during the night, alone.
Thursday 14-th. In the morning make fast again to the hawser from the President. In the evening George Julier died. Post Mortem examination showed the ball had passed through the left lung after having first shattered and carried away the 2d rib on the right side and sternum, and ultimately lodged in the neck of the Scapula. The Ball had been much cut and torn having passed through the Breast plate and two belts before entry the chest.

Friday September 15th 1854. Proceeding from Petropaulski towards Vancouver’s Island. Wind and weather fine.
The seven ships including the prize (Sitka) proceeding together committed the body of George Julier of the Royal Marines Artillery to the deep. He was a very handsome young man age about 23 - he had accompanied both expeditions from the Virago when in the Istmus of Darien and generally allowed to be a very courageous fellow. As soon as he was brought on board after being wounded he came to me and said Oh Doctor they have done for me at last.
Sunday. 17 The Squadron tacked and stand N.N.E. Stormy Breeze from S.S.E. In the evening parted company with the Sitka.
Monday 18th. Wind and Sea Stormy and heavy Ships close hauled. Rain.
Tuesday, 19. Wind S. Rain. Dispatches sent from the President to the Forte. Then the Forte, Eurydice and Obligado proceeded for San Francisco. The President, Pique, Virago and Sitka proceeded for Vankouvers. Virago in tow by the President.
Wednesday 20th A light Gale from the West in the morning which increased towards the evening that the two tows howsers were cast off. When the Virago made more sail to run before the Gale.

Thursday 21 September, a Stormy heavy gale from the west. Running under double reefed fore and main -topsails. In the evening the Pique Sir Frederick Nicholson gave us near rendezvous which was Esquimalt Harbour, Vancouvers Id. Ships parted company

Среда, 13 Ветер и погода успокаиваются. Вечером снова потеряли буксирный конец и всю ночь шли в одиночку.
Четверг, 14-е. Утром снова быстро приняли буксир с «President’а». Вечером умер Джордж Джулиер [George Julier]. Исследование Post Mortem [посмертное] показало, что пуля прошла через левое лёгкое, размозжив его, раздробила 2-е ребро справа и грудину и, наконец, угнездилась в шейке лопатки. Пуля изрядно сплющилась и покорёжилась, пробив нагрудную пластину и два ремня прежде вхождения в грудную клетку.
Пятница, 15 сентября 1854 г. Следуем из Петропавловска курсом на остров Ванкувер. Ветер и погода прекрасные. Семь кораблей, включая приз («Ситху»), идут вместе. Предали пучине тело Джорджа Джулиера, артиллериста Королевской морской пехоты. Это был красивый молодой мужчина лет 23-х; он участвовал в обеих экспедициях «Virago» на Дарьенском перешейке и вообще был смелым парнем. Когда его, раненого, доставили на борт, он пришел ко мне и сказал: «Ах, доктор, они меня всё-таки прикончили».
Воскресенье, 17. Эскадра переменила галс и держин на NNO. Ветер штормовой от SSO. Вечером отделились от группы с «Ситхой».
Понедельник, 18-е. Ветер и море штормовые. Корабли идут круто к ветру. Дождь.
Вторник, 19. Ветер S. Дождь. С «President’а» на «Forte» передано сообщение. После чего «Forte», «Eurydice» и «Obligado» пошли в Сан-Франциско. «President», «Pique», «Virago» и «Ситха» пошли на о. Ванкувер. «Virago» на буксире за «President’ом».
Среда, 20-е. Лёгкий шторм с запада с утра, к вечеру окреп, так что два буксирных конца были отданы. Тогда «Virago» прибавила парусов, чтобы уходить от шторма.
Четверг, 21 сентября. Сильный штормовой ветер с запада. Идём под фок- и грот марселями, взяв на них по два рифа. Вечером [капитан] «Pique» сэр Фредерик Николсон назначил нам рандеву - бухту Эскимолт на о-ве Ванкувер. Суда разошлись.
