Happy Mother's Day to my favourite Momma. I was about to say "my sweet Momma," but then I realized that sweet applies to her about as well as it applies to me (as in it doesn't). So instead I go with favourite because she is my favourite. I've met a lot of good mommas in the world, but none are as good as mine. She raised us to be functioning citizens of society and not little hellions who had to learn the hard way how to function. She had high expectations and we filled them. She taught us the Gospel explicitly and through example. She taught us how to take care of our money ("Now are you sure you want to buy that?"), how to keep a clean home, how to obey our leaders and our Lord, how to pick up a stupid phone and make a call we desperately don't want to make. She taught us to accept the consequences of our actions. She taught us how to love.
She taught us how to clean crayon off the wall after we so lovingly desecrated it. She taught us how to make our beds before noon. She taught us how important it was to be on time for dinner. She taught us the true meaning of emancipation.
She also taught us how to laugh at ourselves. We have varying degrees of success at this one, but it makes life a lot easier to live when we can.
I love my Momma, and I hope everyone in the world knows it!
Happy Mother's Day.
