I'm not surprised that we would fail an audit that was performed by our loss prevention partner. Nobody EVER passes his audits! However, his comments make this audit not so much a failure. This audit was a HUGE improvement from last quarter's audit. We popped on 3 items out of about 70. Last time there were a lot more. Our last audit was the first one since I became store manager I never realized how much help our store really needed. By the time our re-audit came, we passed with flying colors and have done very well in maintaining everything. This audit were silly little things that were over looked. All of our schedules have been hectic. I've put a lot of pressure on my team lately with all the traveling I've done so overall I'm VERY pleased! If he had done a re-audit minutes after the initial audit, we passed. The corrections that needed to be made were very simple and he witnessed Jen make them. Good stuff.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, things didn't quite work out with the assistant manager I hired. He just..well no...it was bad. Since then I have popped an idea into my DM's head about a sales associate that is extremely hard working, dedicated and highly knowledgable. We've been tinkering with that idea for a couple of weeks now. Yesterday my DM called me and is pushing to have her interviewed immediately. She is ready for the interview. She has the leadership that we need...everything else is operations. She'll learn all of that once she's in place. I asked him to explain the urgency. He told me he doesn't want to keep me confined to the 4 walls of my store. He knows I'm actively working to move up and he has "plans for me". Jen is convinced I'm NOT getting another store, but rather become the DM's right hand man. She thinks Queenstown will remain my home store and I'll pop in there time to time, but I'll be traveling often to help "fix" other stores. Which is essentially what I've been doing for the past month anyway. I have no idea which path I'm on, but I'm pretty positive it's a good one.
As for Jen, she is getting the recognition she deserves not only from me and the DM, but from our RM as well. A store in another district lost a store manager. Our regional manager immediately thought of Jen to be the acting SM of that store during the recruiting process to find a new one. WOW! She certainly has come a long. As flattering as that request was there are several reasons it can't be done. Most importantly it would leave my store in a tough situation. I'm not working doubles again. PERIOD! So, that's a no go. My DM agrees that it would put me in a bad way losing her for even just a month. I'm just so tickled that they thought of her! I told my DM that I would go to the store being it's a lot closer to home. He wasn't crazy about that idea. I'm not allowed to stray out of my district. He doesn't want to lose me! HA! Awesome! It's so great to be valued! Anway..my glorious work upday. Changes are happening...just not sure what they are.
TONIGHT: Dany, Wil and I are going to Chronos! Holy Flippin Yay!!
