He dragged his feet along with him, his fucked up life finally gotten into him. He was finally feeling stressed and depressed. How did everything turned out this way? From a normal quarrelling between his parents had turned from a size of a dust to a size of a fist.
He actually thought it wouldn’t affect him at all. He was wrong. Every single day, he has to get home and see how badly the state of house was in. Things were everywhere on the floor as if a small tornado had just come by. He doesn’t want to go back to that so called home. He walked in to that house, even emptier than usual. At least the floor was no longer filled with broken pieces. At least he doesn’t need to face the two of them anymore.
He wanted to walk back to his room but found his drinking in the living room again. That’s right, it wasn’t the first time. After his mom finally moved out, his dad started drinking alone every single night. It been like weeks his dad started drinking. He saw his dad drunk on the sofa. He carried his dad up and back to his room.
“That bitch left us. She fucking left us.” His dad murmured as Minho carried him back to the room. Of course, he knew exactly who his dad was talking about. The supposedly happy family had turned out like this. Broken and scattered. He tucked his dad in bed before making his way back to his room.
He decided to take a quick hot shower to calm himself down. After he was done, he was standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom. How did he not smile? Was the person in that mirror him? His face was more haggard than in the past. He was sick and tired of facing a broken family.
He went to bed not wanting to think of anything anymore. He just shut his brain out.
He got up as usual early in the morning, still in the worse mental state. He had breakfast alone again before he went off to school.
“Minho!” Jinki waved and made his way over to Minho. Minho didn’t want Jinki to know about his family problem. He didn’t want his boyfriend to be worried about him. Minho managed to smile for his boyfriend and waved back to him.
“Hey, Jinki hyung.” Jinki stood beside him and smiled bright as usual.
“Do you want to come over my house today?” Minho froze. If he were to accept Jinki’s invitation, it means he had to force a smile for Jinki the whole day. He’s already mentally worn out at home, he just want some time alone to settle his thoughts and feelings. Perhaps, just not today.
“Sorry hyung. I’m working on a project.” Minho lied. Jinki nodded understandingly.
“It’s alright, project is more important.” Jinki gave a small peck on Minho’s cheek before running off. Minho smiled weakly as he sees Onew disappeared from his sight. He just lied to his boyfriend. He can’t believe he just lied. At least now, he’s alone.
As the last bell rang, Minho started packing and quickly got out of the classroom. He was afraid that Jinki may come over to see who he goes with for project. He quickly left the school.
There comes another problem. It was still early. Where can he go? He doesn’t want to go home, he doesn’t want to face the empty walls. What if his mom came back and the two of them quarrelled again? He then made his way to the playground. Luckily for him, there weren’t anyone there. He was all alone.
He sat down on the swing, feeling the cool breeze blow against his face. What if his parents really divorce? What was he going to do? Where was he going to go? What if he had to choose between his dad and his mom? Who can he choose? If he decided to go with his unemployed dad, his mom would need someone to take care of her. If he decided to go with his mom, who would take care of his unemployed dad?
Both sides, he can only choose one. He was torn between them. He loves the both of them.
Perhaps if they didn’t have him, his parents wouldn’t have to again quarrel for him. Their relationship won’t be even more strain. Maybe if he die, his parent would get back together. Since they were forever quarrelling about money, about who contributes more to him. What if he doesn’t exist? Then they won’t have anything to quarrel about.
In conclusion, if he were to disappear right now, his parents may not end up going to the road called divorce.
He stood and walked to the busiest main road. He just needs to calculate correctly and everything will end. He stood by the side of the road, watching car pass by him. He managed to find the right time and he ran out. The loud screeching sound.
Everything was about to end in front of his very eyes.
Suddenly someone pulled him along with him, making Minho moved away from the road and to the other side of the curb. He wasn’t hit. Minho didn’t die. Minho fell on his knees. Minho eyes were filled with tears as he looked up to the man who saved him.
“Jin…Jinki hyung.” Jinki expression showed Minho that he wasn’t mad about his action. It was worried. Jinki was worried about Minho. Jinki pulled Minho up, hugging the taller boy in his arms.
“Thank god you are fine. Thank god.” Minho started crying in his arms. Perhaps Minho just needed someone to lent him a shoulder to cry on.
“I’m sorry, hyung… I’m sorry…” Minho managed to say between his sobs. Jinki looked into Minho’s eyes.
“Minho, don’t ever forget you still have me. I’ll be there with you through tough times. Please let me be with you through your hard times. Don’t keep everything to yourself. It hurts.” Minho nodded.
Jinki once again embrace Minho in his arms. He will forever be the shining knight for Minho.
