Pike, NOOOO!

I finally gave in and went to the doctor about my injured hand, which hasn't healed in the slightest. She sent me in for x-rays, thinking that it may be fractured after all. I'll probably find out the results sometime tomorrow. In any case, she gave me methylprednisolone to see if we can't kickstart the healing process via cortical steroids. I can't begin to count the ways in which I absolutely despise this particular drug, but I'm taking it as ordered because I know it'll help in the long run.

In other news, I've finally resumed watching Star Trek:TOS after a short break caused by being distracted by Skyrim. Anyway, I just finished watching Menagerie part one and two, and while I knew going into the series that Pike would at some point end up in that wheelchair-thingy with only the flashing lights as his means of communication, I did not know of his ultimate fate. So here are my reactions to these two episodes summed up:

1. Roddenberry, you utter bastard! How could you do that to such a great character?

2. Pike was a damn good captain. I would so have watched a series about him and Number One going around having space adventures and being badass while having snarky, understated romantic tension and sometimes riding horses together. I may require a fic binge.

3. Y'know, this is actually a pretty clever way to merge the events of the pilot in with the canon of the main show.

4. Pike, NOOOOO! The Talosians are not the answer! I'd make a clever joke about Talos worship being banned by the Thalmor, but right now I'm just too upset! Ask me again tomorrow and maybe I'll have thought of something funny by then!

5. Oh yeah, Spock and Kirk were in this episode too, weren't they?

health, angst, doctors, meds, overly-dramatic reactions, star trek, pain, new otp
