Song fragment: Cinderella Stories.

Nov 21, 2005 08:00

Here is a song fragment. I like the way it sounds, but I think it's a bridge, not a verse, and I'm not entirely sure what it's about, other than that the POV voice is really remarkably self-confident:

Cinderella stories say
That everybody has a fairy godmother,
And I've spent my whole life hoping I
Would never have to try to really deal with her,
'Cause I like the person that I am;
Don't need no carriage or no gown.
Glass slippers shatter in the hand.
I'm not a princess, but my kingdom is this town,
Oh my town.

If anybody can ID who's singing so that I can worm the rest of the song out of Jane, I'd really appreciate it. I understand that some people have muses that actually communicate with them in a helpful and enlightening manner, rather than dropping notes on torn bar napkins. Certain muses may want to consider that I could call these people and ask for references. That's really all I'm sayin' here. That certain muses aren't guaranteed to have a job if they keep pulling this sort of stuff.

(Jane usually spends the holidays stone drunk. I am not looking forward to the next six weeks. Nothing says 'ow ow ow my head stop it' like a drunken muse who's run out of eggnog.)
