It's an over-the-shoulder boulder holder! Hooray!

I have always, from my earliest days, hated bras.

I've had a few that I didn't hate in specific, like my Godzilla green bra (adored for its colour), or my front-clasp bra from Victoria's Secret that came from no one-knows-where and was worn until it literally dissolved. And of course, there was the treasured One Black Bra, which was the only black bra that I had as a morbid, horror-focused teen, and which was, again, worn until it fell apart around me. But for the most part, bras? No love here.

This was probably partially because all my first bras were hand-me-downs. Yes, I wore my mother and grandmother's hand-me-down bras, with their bullet-shaped cups and uncomfortable underwires. I cut all the underwires out of my bras after one of them literally punched an inch-deep hole in my side by breaking free during phys ed. Bras were painful, ugly, and unpleasant to wear.

They were also, I discovered, expensive, which just made it worse. Here's this painful, annoying thing that I can't go out in public without, and it costs money? Unfair! I found a style of bra that fit me without being painful (or flattering), and bought it, exclusively, for years, usually wearing each new bra long after it had ceased to do anything useful. My friends would eventually haul me out and make me buy new ones, and the cycle would continue.

Unfortunately, my ribs are now too narrow for my preferred style of bra, and I've been forced to try other options. I went back to the underwire once I tried on a bra with one that actually fit me, and discovered that at my chest size (I'm a DD), it was actually more comfortable. So yay. Target bras are cheap, but you get what you pay for, and they die fast.

Why am I bringing all this up? We-ell...

Last night, Cat brought me three Victoria's Secret bras that no longer fit her, and suggested that I try one of them on. So I did. And ladies and gentlemen, I have found the promised land. Bras that fit. Bras that flatter, lift, support, and do it all without punching holes in my ribcage! Even, in one case, bras with leopard spots on them!

I am in my lingerie-inspired bliss. These are sooooooo comfy.

I am such a girl.
