Today is the last day to submit nominating ballots for
the 2005 Pegasus Awards. The deadline has now officially been reached. At this point, only ballots a) turned in by hand at the Glasgow WorldCon (not an option for some of us), or b) submitted electronically will be counted. Your vote and your voice will help to determine this year's candidates! Ballots can be filled out online at:
http://www.ovff.org/pegasus.html This year's Pegasus categories are:
Best Song. Open to all filk songs that have not previously won this category.
Best Classic Filk Song. Open to all filk songs more than ten years old that have, again, not previously won.
Space Opera. Open to all filk songs dealing with space opera themes.
Sword and Sorcery. Open to all filk songs dealing with sword and sorcery.
Best Performer. Guess.
Best Writer/Composer. Again, guess.
No song that has won a Pegasus the previous year (in this case, 2004) is eligible for this year's ballot. If you're trying to think of options, the results of of the 2005 Brainstorming Poll can be viewed at:
http://www.ovff.org/pegasus/opinions.html The Brainstorming Poll lists people and songs that have already been put forth as 'hey, this would be cool to see up for a Pegasus'. You can use the results of the Brainstorming Poll as you wish. See someone on it you that feel deserves a Pegasus? Great! Nominate them! Change the course of history! Is someone missing from the Brainstorming Poll that you feel really should be there? Correct that earth-shaking error! Nominate them!!
The 2005 Pegasus Awards will be given out at the Saturday night banquet on October 22nd, at
the Ohio Valley Filk Festival, and it's going to be an absolute blast. It doesn't matter whether you're planning to attend OVFF; if you know enough about filk to know what you like, you can submit a nominating ballot. Again, nominations are only open through the end of today, so if you haven't done a nominating nallot yet, now is the time! Speak up, speak out, and let people know what you think!
I know I've been hammering this point home a lot recently, but the Pegasus Awards are something very near and dear to my heart, and I want to make sure that no one wakes up tomorrow and goes 'crud, I forgot to do my ballot'. Please, submit your nominating ballot, and help determine this year's list of candidates. You'll be glad that you did, and so will I. In fact, I'll probably even do a little dance. Joy!
