The latest draft of Late Eclipses of the Sun is finally finished. This is the book that I started seriously rewriting when I first got to England, and despite back injuries, distractions and an accidental week in the middle of February, I actually succeeded in finishing it during the time I had allotted. So ha.
The statistics:
Thirty-one chapters.
Three hundred and seventy-five pages.
101,990 words.
Initial completion date (first draft): 12/22/01.
Completion of current draft: 3/01/04.
A little more than two years have passed since I first finished this book and this moment, right here, right now. Two years. I've learned more than I ever thought was possible about the craft and art of writing; for one thing, I've learned just how much I still need to figure out.
Maybe that's the most important lesson of them all. But all deep thoughts and ponderings on the nature of the craft aside...
SQUEE! I finished a BOOK!
