Comic book day! Hooray!

The lovely Alison drove me to the comic store (in exchange for my going to DVC with her while she registered for classes), and I got...

Mutant Texas, #2. I'm liking this series more and more, although I'm starting to wonder whether the slow build-up is going to become a disappointment -- it's only four issues long, after all. The art is wonderful, and the story is all-ages and first-rate. If you're not buying the individual issues, I highly recommend the eventual TPB.

Thundercats, #1. I read this in the car, and told Alison, 'It's like the cartoon with good writers and decent animation and an unlimited budget.' Seriously, if you want the show to be as good as you remember it being, read this instead of watching those reruns on the Cartoon Network. Besides, Cheetara is a serious hottie.

Y: The Last Man, #2. Another new series that's turning out to be a lot of fun. I like the artwork, and while the plot hasn't really gotten off the ground yet, it's a) an unlimited run, and b) atmospheric enough that I just don't care. They may lose me when they get into the science of it all, but for the moment, it's a good ride.

Strangers in Paradise, #52. I love this series, I genuinely do -- the art, the stories, the realism of it all. This being said, if he doesn't reach some kind of conclusion soon, there's gonna be some hitting. It doesn't have to be a happy ending, but I'm starting to burn for resolution. Still, it was pretty this month.

Finder: Dream Sequence, #27. Getting a new issue of 'Finder' makes it a happy comics week, pretty much automatically. Yay, 'Finder'! I'll admit that this plotline hasn't been as gripping for me as some of her earlier work, but I'm still fascinated and enthralled. Happy blonde.

That's my comics for the week. And Joe said he'd let me upgrade my 'Ultimate Marvel Team-Up' TPB for the hardcover if I bring it in next week (and pay the difference, duh), so I'm a very, very pleased little comic book geek.

Ta!
